【摘要】：当代重要作家之一约翰·麦克斯韦尔·库切的处女作《幽暗之地》，以独特的视角、精致的结构、隽永的对话、深邃的思辨而具直指人心的魅力。作者充分利用其善于移情的艺术才能，在作品中深入到异质文化中间，深入令人憎恶的人物内心深处，取得了非凡的成就。借助爱德华·索雅的第三空间理论，对该文本的内容、结构以及刻画技巧的深入研究后发现，《幽暗之地》描述了一个处于二元对立之间的世界，由相同意识形态为支撑，以构建殖民第三空间为框架，将小说的时间、空间、人物、事件等因素都纳入物质和精神结合体的第三空间之中。伴随着殖民侵略的进行，殖民双方分别进入殖民第三空间。而在资本主义意识形态之下形成殖民第三空间的过程中，殖民双方都受到相应的负面影响，而认清这种后果十分必要，以期寻求解决方法以规避第三空间，走出第三空间。论文首先就作者和作品的重要性、作品的文献综述等加以论述，并指出本课题的主要研究方法。第一章主要分析不同形式的第三空间。通过系统梳理第三空间理论来源及发展历程，并重点讨论集各家所长的爱德华·索雅的第三空间理论，明确第三空间作为精神空间和物质空间结合体的特殊性。在此基础上，分析作品中的各种小说基本要素所承载的第三空间形式，进而推断出整部小说的多元第三空间的表现形式。第二章重点研究作品中第三空间表现形式的构建基础——殖民第三空间的构建。小说以相同的资本主义侵略的意识形态为砥柱，在其基础之上构建了一个庞大的殖民第三空间的框架作为不同类型第三空间表现形式的依附根本。在殖民第三空间的构建过程中，殖民双方分别进入第三空间，并都在不同程度上受到殖民第三空间所带来的不利影响。第三章探讨殖民第三空间构建的意义。文本中殖民第三空间的构建，对于进一步探讨如何规避殖民第三空间所带来的弊端，以及其对于探索空间理论转向来源以及意识形态在第三空间中的作用起到了重要作用。论文最后得出结论，指出库切以资本主义的意识形态为砥柱在作品中构建了殖民第三空间框架，并在此基础上展现了丰富的第三空间形式，对于探讨殖民第三空间的弊端及丰富第三空间理论做出了重要尝试，，为文学艺术的发展做出了巨大贡献。
