《八月之光》和《熊》中的原始回归意象

【摘要】：威廉·福克纳是20世纪美国南方重要的现代主义小说家。他的作品多以虚构的神话王国“约克纳帕塔法县”为创作背景。“约克纳帕塔法世系”的小说展现了福克纳的家乡密西西比州独特的地理自然环境和美国南北战争之后南方社会从兴盛到衰落的过程，同时这也显现了他独有的南方怀旧情怀，在他的小说中很少关注现在和未来，他描写的更多的是往昔的岁月。上世纪90年代我国评论者在研究西方文学与原始主义的时候，就指出福克纳的作品具有原始主义倾向，而他在创作上的这种怀旧的情怀，就具有回归的思想倾向。本文选取了福克纳的两部创作于不同时期的作品试着站在原始回归的角度进行分析。其中一部是他前期的代表作品《八月之光》，另一部是他后期的代表作品《熊》，这两部作品从创作到出版相隔近十年的时间，，且从创作的主题、结构和人物形象等都完全不同，唯一的相似之处是两部作品都属于“约克纳帕塔法世系”，但是在阅读作品之后，我们会发现两部作品都有对人自然的天性的描写，作者在这两部作品中充分地展现了人与人之间的矛盾和人物内心的冲突，不管是创作题材，还是人物以及环境描写都有原始回归的特点，本文试用福克纳前期的作品《八月之光》对后期的作品《熊》起一个佐证的作用，以见证福克纳这种原始回归思想的升华和发展过程。本文将从以下几个方面对福克纳作品中的原始回归意象进行分析。首先，从福克纳的南方情怀入手，这是作家创作的源泉，在他的作品中总是充满着对往昔岁月的追忆和怀念，这种怀念体现出了深刻地怀旧和回归的思想。其次，本文从作家现代派“象征隐喻”、“意象”的创作方法上，分析《八月之光》和《熊》中出现的几个显著的隐喻和意象，用这些来说明其作品中原始回归的特点。最后，对作品中的几个重要人物进行人物形象分析，特别是分析这些人物身上所具有的原始性的特点，这些不仅说明福克纳作品具有原始回归的思想，又能见证福克纳对美好的人性的赞美。总之，福克纳是一位关注人类心灵方面问题的伟大作家，他的创作激情饱含了原始的情怀，为活在当下的人们找到了一条精神上的救赎之路并对人类的未来寄予了美好的希望。
[Abstract]:William Faulkner is an important modernist novelist in the American South in the 20th century. Most of his works are based on the fictional mythological kingdom Yoknapatafa County. The novel of the Yoknapatawatra family shows Faulkner's hometown, Mississippi, of its unique geographical environment and the rise and decline of Southern society after the Civil War, which also reveals his unique nostalgia for the South. In his novels little attention is paid to the present and the future. He describes more of the past. When our critics studied western literature and primitivism in the 1990s, they pointed out that Faulkner's works had the tendency of primitivism, and his nostalgia in creation had the tendency of returning. This paper chooses Faulkner's two works in different periods to try to analyze them from the angle of primitive regression. One of them is his early representative work, Light of August, and the other is his later representative work, Bear. These two works are nearly ten years apart from creation to publication, and the themes, structures and characters are completely different from each other. The only thing in common is that both of the works belong to the Yoknapatafa lineage, but after reading the works, we will find that both of them describe the nature of man. In these two works, the author fully shows the contradiction between people and the inner conflict of the characters. Whether it is the creation of the subject matter or the description of the characters and the environment, there are the characteristics of the original return. In this paper, Faulkner's early works "Light in August" plays a supporting role in the later works "Bear", in order to witness the sublimation and development of Faulkner's original regression thought. This paper analyzes the original regression image in Faulkner's works from the following aspects. First of all, starting with Faulkner's southern feelings, this is the source of the writer's creation. In his works, he is always full of reminiscences and nostalgia for the past years, which reflects the profound nostalgia and the thought of returning to the past. Secondly, this paper analyzes several notable metaphors and images in the Light of August and Bear from the writing methods of symbolism metaphor and image in the modernist school, which is used to illustrate the characteristics of primitive regression in his works. Finally, the author analyzes the characters of several important characters in his works, especially the original characteristics of these characters, which not only shows that Faulkner's works have the original return thought. And to witness Faulkner's praise of good humanity. In a word, Faulkner is a great writer who pays close attention to the spiritual problems of human beings. His creative passion is full of primitive feelings, and he has found a spiritual way of redemption for the people living in the present and has placed great hopes on the future of mankind.
