论赵健秀《唐老亚》之身份再现

【摘要】：当代著名的华裔美国作家之一的赵健秀以其特立独行的写作风格而闻名。赵健秀一贯挑战西方社会对华裔美国人的固有偏见,积极探索华裔美国人的身份问题。本文主要讨论赵健秀在小说《唐老亚》中对于华裔美国人“身份”的再现。本论文的第二章为理论阐述部分。“身份”是一个难以简单界定的术语,它涉及到诸如主体、文化再现、身份政治等复杂的命题。但“身份”这一术语具有两个重大的内涵：其一、身份是一种社会构建,它并非独立于文化表征而存在；其二、正因为其具有表征的特性-即身份无法逃避符号的再现,艺术家,尤其是少数裔的艺术家的重大关切,就在于以各种形式揭示西方主流话语如何构建出各种身份类别,形成了理性文明的西方和充满诡异色彩和原始落后韵味的东方“他者”的身份类别。赵健秀致力于美国华裔身份书写,揭示这些身份如何被扭曲为充满种族成见的“他者”形象,并努力还原美国华裔身份的本真要素。本论文第三章的讨论表明,赵健秀在《唐老亚》中淋漓尽致地展示了在西方人眼中华裔移民的刻板形象,暗示了消除文化再现中对华裔身份扭曲的方法。唐老亚从对自我身份的憎恨走向自我觉醒和获取精神力量,最终完成身份重构,就是一个例证。本文认为,尽管赵健秀把华裔美国人的身份定义为一个本质化的、含糊的“亚裔情感”,尽管其因对华裔身份认同的狭隘认知(他眼里的华裔被戏称仅限于“生于美国长于美国的男性”)而遭受苛评,赵健秀一直努力消除西方社会对华裔美国人和中国文化的扭曲和误读,力图通过瓦解西方社会的身份认同准则,探索华裔身份的构建。他的贡献独特而不可抹杀。
[Abstract]:Zhao Jianxiu, one of the famous contemporary Chinese American writers, is famous for his maverick writing style. Chiu Chien-hsiu has always challenged the inherent prejudice of Western society against Chinese Americans and actively explored the identity of Chinese Americans. This paper mainly discusses Zhao Jianxiu's reappearance of the identity of Chinese Americans in the novel Tang Laoya. The second chapter of this paper is the theoretical elaboration part. Identity is a difficult term to define. It involves complicated propositions such as subject, cultural reproduction, identity politics and so on. However, the term "identity" has two major connotations: first, identity is a social construction, it does not exist independently of cultural representation; second, it is precisely because it has the characteristic of representation that identity cannot escape the reappearance of symbols. The major concern of artists, especially those of minority descent, is to reveal in various ways how mainstream Western discourse constructs various identity categories. A rational civilization of the West and a strange color and primitive backward flavor of the oriental "other" identity category. Zhao Jianxiu is devoted to writing Chinese American identity, revealing how these identities are distorted into the image of "other person" full of racial stereotypes, and trying to restore the true elements of Chinese American identity. The discussion in the third chapter of this thesis shows that Zhao Jianxiu, in Tang Laoya, vividly shows the stereotype image of Chinese immigrants in the eyes of westerners, implying a way to eliminate the distortion of Chinese identity in cultural reproduction. Tang Laoya, from hatred of self identity to self awakening and acquisition of spiritual power, finally completes identity reconstruction, which is a case in point. This paper argues that although Chiu Chien-hsiu defines the identity of Chinese Americans as an essential, vague "Asian emotion," Although he was criticized for his narrow perception of Chinese identity, which he quipped as "male born in the United States and raised in the United States", Zhao Jianxiu has been trying to eliminate the distortion and misreading of Chinese American and Chinese culture in western society, and try to explore the construction of Chinese identity by disintegrating the identity criterion of western society. His contribution is too unique to be obliterated.
