[Abstract]:"cement Garden" is the masterpiece of McEwan's early "panic Literature", which is regarded as "almost perfect" and shocked the readers because of his depiction of teenage sexual psychology such as mother-loving, patricide, incest and so on. However, under the superficial description of "panic", the novel contains concerns about the ethical problems that teenagers may encounter, and contains certain ethical implications. From the perspective of rhetoric narratology, this paper attempts to analyze the function of characters' narration in the novel and its corresponding ethical position, and to reveal this unique narrative art and its expression to the ethical thought of the works. Taking rhetoric narratology as the basic theoretical framework, this paper tries to analyze the narrative skills of the characters in "cement Garden", and emphasizes on the transmission of this technique to the ethical purport of the works, in order to open up a new perspective of interpretation of the works. Based on James Fellen's theory of rhetoric narratology, especially Fellen's theory of character narration, combined with the detailed reading of the text, this thesis focuses on the function of the character narrator in the novel and its different ethical positions in the novel. The character narrator Jack, who reports, interprets and evaluates the narrative, unconsciously reveals its unreliability to the reader; as a character in the story, he represents a group of teenagers with a cross-regional character. A cross-epoch characteristic. In essence, McEwan's choice of this narrative technique contains rich ethical implications. Through the detailed analysis of the ethical position of the characters, narrators, implied authors and real readers in the works, this paper reveals the characters' functions in the story world and the narrative functions in the discourse world. Enriches and refreshes our cognition to the concrete garden and its character narration art. In cement Garden, the use of character narratives to serve the ethical theme of the work. "with the indirect art of character narration, author McEwan reproduces the ethical loss encountered by the four teenagers in the process of growing up, alerting the world to the ethical problems that young people may encounter in the process of growing up, that is, in the process of growing up. Teenagers need correct guidance of ethical values, otherwise they will go into ethical misguided and ethical crimes without knowing themselves.
