【摘要】：四字成语是汉语的精华,积淀着中华民族深厚的历史和文化。因其言简意赅、内容丰富而一直在人们日常生活以及文学作品中被广泛使用。《老残游记》是刘鹗的经典之作。作为中国最优秀的古典小说之一,《老残游记》中有着很多的四字成语。它们不仅增强了作品的趣味性,而且体现了中华民族深厚的文化底蕴和丰富的文学传统。不过,这些四字成语也给不了解中国文化的异域读者带来理解上的困难。 四字成语存在于中国特有的文化传统之中,所以汉语四字成语的翻译就在于如何正确地翻译它们并且准确无误地传递其文化内涵。 对此,目的论给我们提供了一个新的视角。目的论认为翻译是一种人类活动,同时也是一种有目的的行为。在目的论的构架中,翻译目的决定整个翻译过程,而翻译是否“充分”实现了翻译目的则成为评判一篇译文好坏的重要标准。本文正是从目的论的角度来探讨四字成语的翻译,并以《老残游记》谢迪克译本中四字成语的翻译作为研究对象来进行研究。作者认为四字成语翻译也是一种有目的的行为,而其翻译“充分性”的最终实现则是要尽可能地对其进行传神达意的翻译。 总之,利用目的论来分析四字成语的翻译不仅拓展了目的论的应用领域,同时也为解决四字成语的翻译这一汉语翻译难题提供了一个新的视角,这对现有研究成果而言是一种有益的补充和发展。
