[Abstract]:The clarity of self-concept is the degree of understanding of self-concept, which is influenced by self-threat. Amygdala is an important brain area for the processing of threat information, and the abnormality of this area is reflected in anxiety individuals such as trait anxiety. Although there is no direct evidence of the relationship between amygdala and self-concept clarity, studying the relationship between trait anxiety, amygdala and self-concept clarity may be helpful to further understand the relationship between them. Based on the morphologic analysis of voxel (VBM) and the relationship between amygdala and trait anxiety, this study explored the predictive effect of amygdala nucleus self-concept clarity. The results showed that there was a significant negative correlation between trait anxiety and self-concept clarity. VBM analysis showed that the regional gray matter volume of the basal lateral amygdala was positively correlated with trait anxiety. Moreover, the region can significantly predict the level of self-concept clarity of an individual. These results suggest that with the increase of amygdala volume, individuals are more vulnerable to self-threat, and thus show lower self-concept clarity.
