【摘要】：正"本末"一词是在古代著述中使用较多的范畴,它在传统语境中有如下含义:一是指事情的开始与结局,如"纪事本末"。二是根本、本源与细枝末节的两分,如朱熹说:"圣人之言体用兼该,本末一贯"。(1)本文使用的是第二种含义。对西方文明的发展历史进行详尽地梳理和考察,并从"本""末"两方面进行界定和评价,可以说是鲁迅早期文言论文一以贯之的主题。在《摩罗诗力说》中,他批评那些"崇实之士"所提倡的都是"治饼饵、
