With the more frequent exchanges and closer relations between China and Russia, the trade relations between China and Russia have also been further developed. The Ukraine crisis in 2014 opened up new opportunities for trade between China and Russia. This paper analyzes and predicts the opportunities and challenges brought about by the sanctions imposed by Europe and the United States against Russia under the Ukraine crisis, and how to seize the opportunities to deal with the challenges and to further develop the Sino-Russian trade relations. So that China and Russia have a long-term and stable trade partnership. This paper summarizes the basis of Sino-Russian cooperation by collecting the works on Sino-Russian economy and trade in recent years and the documents, reports and policies put forward by the two governments. The general situation of China's foreign trade, Russia's foreign trade and Sino-Russian bilateral trade in recent years are analyzed by means of statistical analysis. The foundation of Sino-Russian cooperation and the introduction of Sino-Russian trade are helpful for readers to understand the development of Sino-Russian trade in recent years. Under the background of sanctions against Russia by Europe and the United States, this paper analyzes the opportunities brought to Sino-Russian trade cooperation by European and American sanctions against Russia through such projects as energy cooperation, high-speed rail project, agricultural industry and so on. This paper analyzes the impact of the fall of the rouble and the decline of the ability to pay on the trade between China and Russia in a short period of time caused by the sanctions imposed by Europe and the United States on Russia. In the face of the opportunities and challenges brought by sanctions, China can strengthen bilateral exchanges between China and Russia by improving the competitiveness of our export products. Measures such as establishing a yuan-rouble swap agreement with the Russian central bank and promoting and improving the RMB cross-border payment and settlement system are aimed at seizing the opportunities and meeting the challenges in order to promote the better development of Sino-Russian trade. The innovation of this paper lies in its strong timeliness and novel selection. It is of practical significance to study the impact on the development of Sino-Russian trade under the background of the multi-round sanctions imposed by Europe and the United States on Russia under the crisis of Ukraine. And using the latest data, combined with concrete examples to analyze the potential opportunities from energy cooperation, high-speed rail projects, agricultural industries, etc., as well as the negative impact of the fall in the rouble and the decline in Russia's ability to pay. Finally, the paper puts forward the relevant suggestions and countermeasures to seize the opportunity to meet the challenges. Russia, as a large emerging economy, has a strong influence in the world. With the economic development and comprehensive national strength increasing, Russia's enormous market potential is becoming increasingly prominent. In addition, Russia's rich natural resources have become the object of concern of all countries in the world. The geographical advantages, friendly political relations and the complementarity of export products between China and Russia continue to promote the development of bilateral trade between China and Russia. Sanctions on Russia from Europe and the United States have pushed Russia eastward in search of partners, which has opened up opportunities for trade between China and Russia, and China should seize the opportunity to strengthen economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.
