斯图亚特.霍尔的文化消费研究

【摘要】:斯图亚特·霍尔对文化消费的研究涉及大众文化、媒介理论、亚文化、文化霸权等多个领域,提出了一系列极具创新意义的观点。本文旨在对霍尔的文化消费思想进行系统研究,探究其生成背景,追溯其理论渊源,论述其代表性文化消费观点,并寻找其对我国当代的文化消费发展的借鉴意义。本文包括绪论及正文的五个章节,其中,绪论部分对本论文的研究意义进行了简要阐述,对国内外学者关于霍尔文化消费理论的研究现状进行了系统梳理,并简要介绍了本文的研究思路与方法,是本文的整体创作的准备和基础。第一章对霍尔的生平和文化消费进行了简要介绍,并阐述了霍尔文化消费思想形成的社会背景。文化消费是现代社会的重要特征,主要为了满足消费者的精神文化需要。二战之后,物质的丰富和闲暇时间的宽裕为文化消费提供了基本条件,大众媒介的发展迅速推动了文化消费的扩大。而英国政治、经济、文化方面的变革对文化消费的发展起到了不可或缺的催发作用。这些变化所带来的文化消费引起了霍尔的注意,霍尔在文化研究中反复强调文化消费的重要性及特殊作用。霍尔在受众(包括工人阶级大众、青年、女性等)研究中凸显了他们作为文化消费者的积极作用,霍尔模式又揭示了文化消费过程中的文化霸权内涵。因而霍尔的文化研究与对文化消费的阐述密不可分。第二章重点分析了霍尔文化消费理论的理论来源。一方面,霍尔的文化消费思想有对优秀理论资源的继承与发展。霍尔对马克思主义的学习和发展是他文化研究的强大动力。阿尔都塞的意识形态理论为霍尔的文化研究打开了新的大门。而葛兰西关于文化霸权实质的重新解读将霍尔的文化消费最终转向了权力分析。此外,符号学理论为霍尔提供了理论工具,帮助霍尔通过微观的符号意义构建起了宏观的社会权力运作。另一方面,霍尔的文化消费思想也有对消极错误思想的反叛和颠覆。当时的英国社会深受利维斯精英主义和法兰克福学派消极受众观的影响,对大众文化和消费者持有怀疑和贬低的态度。霍尔虽然接受了精英主义教育,但他将文学文本研究转化为媒体文本研究和大众文化文本研究,对消费者给予了极大的肯定,认为他们能够自主地进行多种解读。正是对精英主义和消极受众观的反叛与颠覆促使霍尔的文化消费理论逐步走向成熟。第三章对霍尔的文化消费理论的几个重要观点进行了梳理,一方面,霍尔对文化消费主体的研究突破了伯明翰学派早期受众观的限制,对大众文化中的消费者进行了重新解读。新的大众消费者主要是指工人阶级,他们不是被文化产品操控的文化傻瓜,虽然大众文化通过唤起、扩大、重塑消费者内心的认同,向消费者重新构建了文化与消费的意义,但大众能够主动地与主流文化进行斗争。另一方面,霍尔指出文化消费的过程中隐藏着文化霸权的争夺问题,文化产品的意义需要生产者和消费者共同构建,在反复协商与斗争的过程中,新的社会秩序和社会关系得以重建,体现了意识形态对政治经济的反作用。第四章从实践研究的角度出发,对文化消费的传播方式——霍尔模式进行了具体分析。霍尔对线性传播方式进行了颠覆,突出了信息和受众的动态性和多样性。在编码过程中,或者说是文化产品的生产过程中,看似自然化的符码隐藏着统治阶级的主流意识形态,而在解码阶段,也就是消费阶段,消费者能够根据自身的文化背景和精神需要对文化产品的意义进行重新解读,包括倾向式解读、协商式解读和对抗式解读三种。而后以索尼随身听这一经典案例为例,对霍尔有关文化消费的实践研究进行了详细论述。第五章从当代视角出发对霍尔的文化消费思想进行了评析。霍尔在文化研究中突出了消费者的多样性和主动性,强调了消费者在解读与再创文化中的作用,是大众态度的转折点。他的相关理论建构在20世纪英国社会现实之上,综合了多个学派、学科的研究成果,呈现出独特的开放性、包容性、与实践性。但霍尔的文化消费理论也存在系统性不强、验证性弱等不可忽视的缺点。总体看来,霍尔提出的文化消费的观点对于充分发挥消费者对文化市场的调节作用,准确认识文化消费的传播与作用有着重要的借鉴意义,也为当代中国规范文化市场、形成科学健康的文化消费提供了新的研究视角。
[Abstract]:The study on cultural consumption of Stuart Hall relates to mass culture, media theory, subculture, many areas of cultural hegemony, put forward a series of highly innovative ideas. This paper aims at a systematic study of Holzer's thought of cultural consumption, exploring its background, tracing its origin theory, discusses the representative cultural consumption view, and find the way to our contemporary cultural consumption development reference. This paper consists of five chapters, including introduction and text, the introduction part briefly introduces the research significance of this paper, summarizes the research status of domestic and overseas scholars Holzer cultural consumption theory, and briefly introduces the research ideas and methods.
