The secret of magic cement lies in the addition of calcium lactate and a bacterium found in rocks around active volcanoes and alkali lakes. When the cement cracks seep into the water, the bacteria are "awakened" and then "eaten" by calcium lactate, secreting limestone that can repair the cracks, taking about three weeks.
