网络处理器中PCI总线的应用与验证

【摘要】:在过去几十年,随着IC技术的高速发展,世界发生了翻天覆地的变化。互联网的出现使原本偌大的世界变得更小,这一切都得益于因特网和相关的网络设备给我们带来的巨大好处。网络处理器是用来执行数据处理和转发的高速可编程处理器。它的结构设计使其除了拥有ASIC的高速处理能力,,同时又有很强大的可编程特性。而网络处理器中的PCI总线是一种适合工业标准、低成本、高性能的局部总线结构。PCI总线的应用范围十分广泛,它不仅可用于高、中、低挡的台式机中,而且能够用于便携机甚至是服务器中。 本文首先对网络处理器的体系结构进行了详细的介绍,分析了常见的网络处理器的功能,重点描述了XDNP网络处理器的结构。其次分析了PCI局部总线的协议,以及它上的数据进行交易的过程,并研究了PCI在网络处理器中所起的作用。最后通过搭建验证平台,对该网络处理器中PCI单元的操作过程进行了模块级仿真。
[Abstract]:Over the past few decades, with the rapid development of IC technology, the world has changed dramatically. The emergence of the Internet has made the original huge world smaller, all of which benefit from the enormous benefits that the Internet and related network devices bring us. The network processor is a high-speed programmable office that uses data processing and forwarding. Its structure design makes it not only has the high speed processing ability of ASIC, but also has very strong programmable features. While the PCI bus in the network processor is a kind of suitable industrial standard, low cost, high performance local bus structure.PCI bus is widely used, it can be used not only in high, medium, low gear desktop, but also in the network. And it can be used in portable machines or even servers.
In this paper, the architecture of the network processor is introduced in detail, the function of the common network processor is analyzed, the structure of the XDNP network processor is described emphatically. Secondly, the protocol of the PCI local bus is analyzed, and the process of the data transaction on it is also studied. Finally, the role of the PCI in the network processor is studied. By setting up the verification platform, the operation process of the PCI unit in the network processor is simulated at the module level.
