[Abstract]:The world's largest X-ray laser, European XFEL (European free electron laser, has been put into use in the Hamburg metropolitan area. Eleven European countries have been involved in the development of the 1.22 billion euro laser, namely Denmark, Germany, France, Italy, Poland, Russia, Sweden, Switzerland, Slovakia, Spain and Hungary. The UK is applying to join the research program. It is reported that, European XFEL is the largest laser facility in the world.
