[Abstract]:The belief of the Ten kings originated from the ghost consciousness in ancient China, worshipped and admired the ancestors, experienced a long historical precipitation, constantly absorbed, integrated with foreign culture, and finally formed a kind of folk belief. It has a unique folk belief characteristics, with a large number of followers. The earliest systematic "Ten kings" came from the "Ten King Sutra" of Tibetan Sichuan in Tang Dynasty, perfected in the Song Dynasty, and expanded in Chen Zhongyuan's "Guangcheng instrument system" in Qing Dynasty. Although the Ten Wang Sutra was the first classical literature of the ten kings system, However, it has been proved that its content is greatly influenced by Taoist classical literature. There are few studies on the belief of the ten kings in the Qing Dynasty, but a large number of folk customs spread today can be found in the relevant pictures, so the study of the remaining land and water paintings in this period is of great significance. Taking a large number of Sichuan Qing Dynasty land and water paintings as an example, the Buddhist Taoist nature and the content of Taoist belief of the ten kings can confirm that the belief of the ten kings can not only draw lessons from Buddhist thought, but also rely on the profound connotation of Chinese local ghost and god culture. Form a rich content, spread diversity, with a strong redemption function of the underworld system. It can be said that the origin and development of the belief of the ten kings can not be separated from the real society under the background of various times. The thought of the ruling class, the thought of the literati and the followers of Buddhism and Taoism run through this gradually formed folk belief. The rich content shown in the image plays a positive role in promoting Chinese traditional filial piety culture and the spread of folklore popular in the world.
