塞缪尔·约翰逊作品中的帝国意识研究

在英国文学史上,塞缪尔·约翰逊是一位在文学成就与声望方面可与莎士比亚比肩的作家。约翰逊的作品涉及诗歌、小说、戏剧、散文、游记、文学评论等方方面面。十八世纪以来,国内外学者对他的研究一直持续至今。通过对国内外约翰逊研究的现状分析,笔者发现鲜有学者涉及约翰逊作品中的帝国意识。本论文基于爱德华·赛义德的后殖民理论,结合十八世纪英国社会现状,试图探究其作品中反映的帝国意识。希望本研究能够在一定程度上拓展约翰逊研究的维度,从而推进人们对英帝国的形成过程的认识。论文共分为七个部分。绪论部分介绍了约翰逊生平及其作品。在对国内外约翰逊研究现状进行梳理的基础上,提出现有研究的不足之处,进而阐述本论文研究方法和理论框架。第一章立足于约翰逊有关语言的相关著述,尤其是其《词典编纂方案》和其为词典所作的《序言》,基于相关学者对语言与帝国关系的研究,并结合当时的社会语境,探讨约翰逊潜在于作品中的帝国意识。该章节借助有关语言与帝国关系的相关学说,考察当时英语语言的腐化,以及约翰逊对此的忧虑,从而凸显了他的帝国意识。通过《词典编纂方案》和《序言》的发表,特别是其编写词典所付出的艰苦努力,约翰逊赢得了同胞的认可,同时也...
