His major aim for this campaign is to centralize his campaign on the dangers to the security of average American, instead of the terrorist threat, he focuses on the lack of health assistance, crime and also the renewable energy dependence on the unstable parts of the world.
Joe Biden has declared his candidacy officially when he filed the papers with the Federal Elections Commission and start his campaign by attacking Hillary Clinton who was one of the frontrunner in Democratic presidential nomination. He began to criticize Clinton's plan about the War in Iraq by claiming that her plan is a military solution which is a disaster that act against the achievement of aim while holding his plan is a political solution. In February 2007, he speaks out his dissatisfaction about the new surge policy of Bush administration in Iraq by questioning his decision in approving the authorization going to war in 2002 which end up being triggered in a civil war. Before he ends his campaign in the first quarter of 2007, he came up with a strategy which attempt to convince the citizens in Southern primary state of South Carolina to vote him to the nomination.
Joe Biden continues his campaign in April 2007 by criticizing the Republican presidential candidates, John McCain that he is fundamentally wrong in supporting Bush's surge policy for Iraq. Instead, they should decentralize Iraq by giving their own region the power to rule their domestic laws, administration and internal security according to the ethics group. In the following month, he release a statement by believing that Bush was right to enact economic sanctions against Sudan which can pressure the government to end the genocide in Darfurt, but he later argued that Bush's decision in calling for a No-Fly Zone over the region is almost impossible. On August 20, Biden's first campaign advertisement is aired in the first Caucus state of Iowa. The main purpose is to gain trustworthy from the citizens so that they will believe Joe Biden is the only candidates that are can end Iraq war. In the early of September, he was counting on the Caucuses of Iowa by saying that he will leave the trail if he was unable to get the first, second or third lead in the poll. However, this was not enough for the Caucuses of Iowa, Joe Biden was completely defended by other candidates by gathering one percent of the total vote in that event. As a result, he withdrew himself from the presidential campaign that seems hopeless for him to achieve his dream in becoming the President of the United States.
In conclusion, Joe Biden has made full use of media for his presidential campaign. This was proved when he uses television talk show to announce his candidacy (Meet the Press), gave his opinion about Clinton's plan in solving the War of Iraq in Good America Program and attends an interview in Face the Nation with Bob Schieffer where he criticizes the new surge policy introduced by Bush for his administration in Iraq.
