1.1 Basic information of BG Group
Headquartered in Reading, the United Kingdom, BG Group is one of the most famous British multinational oil and gas firm. As the world leader in natural gas, its operating footprint spreads in 25 countries that located in five different continents. Along with co-operation with government and some institutions, BG Group makes it a great success in leading operating business such as natural gas exploration, production, transportation also supply. 

1.2 Strategy
As is disclosed by BG Group, its strategy is becoming a world-leading explanation and production (E&P) and LNG company. In details, the strategy can be decomposed into several parts. Strong growth in E&P and LNG volumes comes first, then, an increase in high margin production, also, reducing capital expenditure and having positive free cash flow from 2015 are what BG Group tries to achieve, what’s more, an increase in return on capital employed and returning cash to shareholders in the medium term are indispensable parts of BG Group’s strategy.

2.1 Financial performance analysis on BG Group
2.1.1 Profitability
Profitability is related to credit risk because firms wish to pay interest and repay their debt with cash generated from profits. Generally speaking, the more profitable the firm, the less likely it is to default on its debt, then the better financial situation it possesses. In analysis of profitability, we choose financial ratios such as gross profit margin and net profit margin. Trends of gross profit margin and net profit margin can be described as figure 2-1.

 Net profit margin is 0.48% and gross profit margin is 3.66%
 The perspective of current ratio, it decreases from 1.05 in 2008 to 1.01 in 2009 and then increases all the way to 1.44 in 2012
 gross profit margin increased from 65% in 2008 to 77.8% in 2012
