中英预防艾滋病视频的多模态话语对比分析

【摘要】:随着多媒体的快速发展,人们交流的方式出现多元化趋势,越来越多地利用多模态话语来构建意义、传递信息。多模态话语是指采用两种或多种感觉,通过语言、图像、声音、动作等多种手段进行沟通交流的现象。视频作为一种新兴的交际、通讯工具,集多种模态于一身并能够准确表达出其中的艺术诉求和思想内涵。自上世纪90年代以来,对多模态话语的研究层出不穷,但大多只集中在静态图像上,如海报、电影语篇等。对动态图像,特别是视频的研究是少之又少,将不同语言的视频进行对比分析则更为少见,而对预防艾滋病视频则没有研究过。 本研究是对中英预防艾滋病视频进行多模态话语对比分析,语料来源为2006年到2012年八个政府及非政府组织所拍摄的预防艾滋病视频。作者基于Kress和van Leeuwen建立的第一个系统全面的视觉语法分析框架以及O’Halloran建立的电影语篇分析体系,提出了一个改进的适合视频的分析模型。从再现意义、互动意义以及构图意义对所搜集的中英文预防艾滋病视频进行对比分析,以期发现它们在采用多模态话语构建意义时存在的差异。 首先,作者将所选取的视频根据摄像机移动,意义构建及时间顺序分割成100个中文视频片段和100个英文视频片段。其次,应用上述模型对所选取的视频分别从再现意义、互动意义及构图意义三个方面进行定量对比分析。最后,我们从中英文语料中各选取一个视频,举例说明所分析的变量以及分析过程。 通过对比研究,,本文得出以下结论。第一,再现意义层面上:中文预防艾滋病视频比英文视频采用了更多的意义再现而英文预防艾滋病视频则多采用叙事再现。第二,互动意义层面上:中文视频多采用提供类图像,长、中、特写镜头相结合,侧面视角,柔和的背景音乐或不使用音乐,短小且富有号召力的台词,以及较高的情态来构建再现意义。但同时,研究结果也显示,中文视频在使用索取类图像上有所增多。英文视频则多采用索取类图像,特写镜头,正面视角,低沉严肃的背景音乐,较长且富有感召力的台词以及中等和较低的情态来构建互动意义。第三,构图意义层面上,中文视频多将主要信息或事物置于图像右边,多采用置于前景或增强颜色对比度来凸显其重要性。而英文视频则多将主要事情或信息置于图像中间,多采用放大主要事物或置于前景来突出其重要性。 本研究旨在发现对中英预防艾滋病视频进行多模态话语对比分析时,再现意义、互动意义、以及构图意义三方面存在的差异。这不仅对人们提高多模态话语分析能力有一定的帮助,而且为欣赏视频提供了一个新的视角。另外,在原有分析框架的基础上,本文提出了一个综合的且适用于对视频进行多模态话语分析的模型,这一模型对人们进一步研究多模态话语分析这一领域有着一定的借鉴意义。
[Abstract]:With the rapid development of multimedia, there is a trend of diversity in the way of communication, and more multi-modal discourse is used to construct meaning and transmit information. Multimodal discourse refers to the phenomenon that two or more senses are used to communicate with each other through language, image, sound, action and so on. As a new communication and communication tool, video can accurately express its artistic appeal and connotation. Since the 1990s, there have been many studies on multimodal discourse, but most of them focus on static images, such as posters, film texts and so on. There are very few researches on dynamic images, especially video, and it is rare to compare and analyze the video of different languages, but there is no research on the prevention of HIV / AIDS. The present study is a multi-modal discourse comparative analysis of HIV / AIDS prevention videos in China and Britain from 2006 to 2012 by eight government and non-governmental organizations (NGOs). Based on Kress and van Leeuwen's first systematic framework of visual grammar analysis and Ohn Halloran's system of film discourse analysis, an improved video analysis model is proposed. This paper makes a comparative analysis of the collected Chinese and English AIDS prevention videos from the aspects of reproduction meaning, interactive meaning and composition meaning, in order to find out the differences between them when using multi-modal discourse to construct meaning. Firstly, the selected video is divided into 100 Chinese video clips and 100 English video clips according to camera motion, meaning construction and time order. Secondly, the model is used to compare and analyze the selected video from three aspects: reproduction meaning, interactive meaning and composition meaning. Finally, we choose a video from the Chinese and English corpus to illustrate the variables analyzed and the analysis process. Through comparative study, this paper draws the following conclusions. Firstly, in the aspect of reproduction, Chinese HIV / AIDS prevention video is more meaningful than English video, while English HIV / AIDS prevention video is more narrative reproduction. Second, on the interactive level: Chinese video mostly uses short, short and powerful lines with short, medium, close-up shots, side view, soft background music or no use of music. And higher modality to construct the meaning of reproduction. But at the same time, the results also show that Chinese video in the use of request-class images have increased. In English video, the interactive meaning is constructed by taking pictures, close-up shots, positive perspective, low and serious background music, long and inspiring lines and medium and low moods. Thirdly, in the sense of composition, Chinese video mostly puts the main information or things on the right side of the image, and puts them on the foreground or enhances the contrast of color to highlight their importance. In English video, the main thing or information is placed in the middle of the image, and the importance is highlighted by magnifying the main thing or placing it in the foreground. The purpose of this study is to find out the differences in reproduction meaning, interactive meaning and composition meaning in the multimodal discourse contrastive analysis of HIV / AIDS prevention videos between China and Britain. This is not only helpful to improve the ability of multimodal discourse analysis, but also provides a new perspective for watching video. In addition, on the basis of the original analysis framework, this paper proposes a comprehensive and suitable multi-modal discourse analysis model for video. This model can be used for reference in the field of multimodal discourse analysis.
