【摘要】： 中国的民族管乐器有着七八千年的发展历史，是中国民族音乐体系中的一大重要分支，管乐器从它产生之时起就与音乐的发展，人民的生活紧密联系，，各个朝代新兴的管乐器的出现都是民族音乐发展进步的标志。今天音乐舞台上众多的民族管乐器，他们是如何在历史长河中不断演变和发展而来的?这些管乐器的前身具有如何的外形?演奏性能怎样?它们上是否具有中国音乐文化发展的印记?为什么许多管乐器只可从史书的记载中找到，而现今已无实物可查?等等这些都是研究管乐器发展研究中国音乐发展的主要问题。回顾历史中国有着悠久的民族管乐器发展的道路，每个朝代都有着新兴的管乐器出现，但是今天的民族乐坛上管乐器的发展出现了停滞状况，如何从历史的研究中找到管乐器的发展脉络并结合当前音乐发展现状寻求中国管乐器的发展道路，是民族音乐发展中不得不思索和正视的问题。本文即从这些问题着手以历史时间为线索研究中国管乐器的发展情况，即对今后管乐器改革提出自己观点。全文分为四个部分：第一部分：简要回顾中国管乐器在远古至隋唐时期的发展状况，主要是收集各个不同时期的管乐器种类存在的资料依据，从中理清各种管乐器的各个阶段的外在形式及演奏性能形成较为清晰发展脉络，并进一步研究管乐器在各个阶段所取得的具体的发展成就。第二部分：从管乐器与音律的发展关系上来研究管乐器在历史进程中于音律的关系，主要以两方面1．从管乐器的考古成果“埙”来研究我国古代音律的发展概况2．以荀勖对笛改制来探讨管乐器在促进律制发展中所起的作用。第三部分：中国管乐器在现今主要民间吹打乐种中的存在状况，包括乐器的使用状况、演奏曲目、社会功能等。第四部分：现今管乐器的发展及乐器改革所引起的思考，从现在舞台上较为常见的管乐器种类着手来分析今后的管乐器发展道路，包括演奏技巧、曲目创作、教育方式、乐器改革等，并通过与日本管乐器发展现状的比较，对我国乐器改革的具体做法提出自己的观点。中国传统管乐器的出现是人类社会的一大进步，是传统音乐发展的一个新纪元，无论过去与现在它都需要在继承的基础上加以发展，使得传统管乐器的独特魁力永放光芒。
