【摘要】：本翻译报告的研究对象是爱尔兰作家——约翰·麦加恩的《回忆录》。《回忆录》中主要人物之一就是麦加恩的父亲。父亲处于中年时期和老年时期性格特征的变化是本回忆录的特色之一,而父亲的性格特征转变从麦加恩描写性语言的变化中得以展现。本篇翻译报告以尤金·A·奈达(Eugene A. Nida)的功能对等理论为基础,探讨如何从词汇层面和句子层面翻译麦加恩描写性语言。 本篇报告由五部分组成,第一、翻译项目介绍,包括翻译项目的背景、意义以及原作背景介绍,包括作者介绍、小说主要内容介绍以及父亲不同时期作者语言特色的变化。第二、译前准备,主要包括长期准备和短期准备。第三、主要介绍指导本篇翻译实践的翻译理论——功能对等理论。第四、案例分析,主要从词汇层面和句子层面来探讨如何翻译出父亲处于不同时期作者语言特色的变化。最后,总结此次翻译中发现的种种不足和心得体会。
