沙译《水浒传》人物绰号的理想化认知模式分析

【摘要】:绰号不仅是一种语言现象,更是一种文化现象。《水浒传》中108将的绰号大都由隐喻或转喻构成。丰富的文化元素、隐喻和转喻成分是108将绰号的精髓所在。因此,翻译绰号时,译者如果不能准确传达绰号的这些特点,就无法传达绰号的精髓,也就无法使译文读者领略绰号的魅力和内涵。 认知语言学家认为,语言是人与外部世界互动体验的产物。隐喻和转喻并不是单纯的语言或修辞现象,而是人们理解外部世界和自身体验的基本认知机制。在此基础上,Lakoff于1987年提出了理想化认知模型这一理论。该理论从认知的视角解析了隐喻和转喻的生成过程,深入地阐释了隐喻和转喻的语言生成机制。 本文以沙博理的108将绰号译本为研究对象,从认知语言学视角出发,以理想化认知模式为理论依托,分析了沙博理的绰号翻译的构建过程。翻译时,首先,作为绰号原文的读者,沙博理用汉语语言和文化模型进行绰号文化内涵的意义建构,获得相应的认知感受。然后,沙博理将这份认知感受以符合英语语言和文化模型的译本表现出来,使得译本传达给译文读者与原文读者相似的认知感受。最后,文章总结出好的绰号翻译应使译文与原文达到认知对等。
[Abstract]:Nicknames are not only a linguistic phenomenon, but also a cultural phenomenon. The nicknames of General 108 in Water margin are mostly made up of metaphor or metonymy. The rich cultural elements, metaphors and metonymy elements are the essence of 108 nicknames. If the translator can not accurately convey these characteristics of the nickname, he can not convey the essence of the nickname, nor will he be able to make the translated reader appreciate the charm and connotation of the nickname. Cognitive linguists believe that language is the product of human interaction with the outside world. Metaphor and metonymy are not purely linguistic or rhetorical phenomena. On the basis of this, Lakoff put forward the theory of idealized cognitive model in 1987, which analyzes the generation of metaphor and metonymy from the perspective of cognition. The mechanism of language generation of metaphor and metonymy is explained in depth. Taking Sidney Shapiro's version 108 as the object of study, this paper, from the perspective of cognitive linguistics and based on the idealized cognitive model, analyzes the construction process of the translation of Sidney Shapiro's nickname. As the reader of the original nickname, Sidney Shapiro constructs the meaning of the cultural connotation of the nickname by using the Chinese language and cultural model, and obtains the corresponding cognitive feelings. Sidney Shapiro expressed this cognitive feeling in a translation that is in line with the English language and cultural model, so that the translation conveys similar cognitive feelings to the target reader and the original reader. Finally, The article concludes that a good translation of nicknames should achieve cognitive equivalence between the target and the original.
