从文化失衡的角度对《红楼梦》两译本进行对比分析

【摘要】： 翻译传统上的翻译活动一直被理所当然地看作是两种语言之间的转换过程,然而随着翻译研究的深入,传统语言学模式的不足之处日益明显,从而促使翻译研究进入了一个新的阶段:翻译的文化论。而后殖民主义作为近年来在学术界新兴的一门学科,正在日益和翻译科学相结合。继翻译研究的文化转向之后,学者们将目光投向了影响和控制翻译的社会历史问题。世界上存在的权力差异决定了翻译的流向和取材,不同译者所采用的不同的翻译策略也是由其所处的意识形态和文化背景而决定的。事实上,整个翻译过程,从翻译材料到翻译策略的选择都受到译者所处的社会历史背景和译者本身的意识形态所影响。源语文化在译入语文化中的地位,译者对源语文化的态度以及翻译的目的等都对翻译有很大的影响。本文通过考察中国名著《红楼梦》在同一时期由中外翻译家翻译的不同译本及其对文化信息的翻译处理,分析了在后殖民主义时代西方译者受到其意识形态的制约,对不同于本国的文化采取了归化的翻译策略,从而抹杀了中国独有的文化特点,导致了强势文化和弱势文化之间的失衡。最后作者指出,在全球化语境下,承担着文化交流重任的翻译应从真正意义上实现平等的文化交流。
[Abstract]:Traditional translation activities have been taken for granted as a process of conversion between two languages. However, with the deepening of translation studies, the shortcomings of traditional linguistic models have become increasingly apparent. Therefore, the study of translation has entered a new stage: the cultural theory of translation. As a new academic discipline in recent years, colonialism is increasingly combined with translation science. Following the cultural shift in translation studies, scholars have turned their attention to the social and historical issues that influence and control translation. The power difference in the world determines the direction and materials of translation, and the different translation strategies adopted by different translators are also determined by their ideology and cultural background. In fact, the whole process of translation, from the translation materials to the choice of translation strategies, is influenced by the social and historical background of the translator and the ideology of the translator itself. The position of the source culture in the target language culture, the translator's attitude towards the source language culture and the purpose of translation have great influence on translation. By examining the different versions of the Chinese masterpiece A Dream of Red Mansions translated by Chinese and foreign translators in the same period and their handling of cultural information, this paper analyzes the ideological constraints on Western translators in the post-colonial era. A domesticated translation strategy is adopted to the culture different from that of the native country, which obliterates the unique cultural characteristics of China and leads to the imbalance between the strong culture and the weak culture. Finally, the author points out that in the context of globalization, translation, which bears the important task of cultural communication, should realize equal cultural exchange in a true sense.
