从语用对等角度透视《名利

【摘要】:二十世纪五六十年代以前,翻译理论争论的焦点是直译和意译,之后争论转向了翻译对等。关于翻译对等,不少中外学者和翻译理论家提出了自己的看法,如奈达的形式对等和动态对等、纽马克的语义翻译和交际翻译、贝克的语用对等、金杽的翻译等效等。文章体裁不同,语言风格不同,要求达到的翻译对等也就不同。小说中人物对话的翻译应以语用对等为目标。本文着重探讨了语用对等在小说人物对话翻译中的实现情况。 小说是一种文学体裁。人物对话在小说中的作用非同寻常,它不仅体现了文中人物的身份地位、性格特征,并能在一定程度上反映当时的社会背景及风土人情;此外还起到推动情节发展、激发读者兴趣等作用。小说中的人物对话和人们在日常生活中的交谈在意义的传达方面有共通之处,即都离不开情景和场景的烘托;两者又有一定的差异,如小说中的人物对话有时用一些特殊的拼写来体现说话者在发音上的不同寻常之处。 本论文采用格莱斯的合作原则和会话含义分析了小说《名利场》中的部分人物对话,从语用对等方面研究了其语用意义在杨必译本和高玉其译本中的实现情况。通过分析,笔者发现:在翻译小说中的人物对话时,译者应该把语用意义的实现放在第一位,同时保证原文中的隐含意义在译文中也能保持隐含状态并为读者所领会。文学之所以为文学,是因为它给读者留下了一定的想象空间和回味余地。为了隐含意义的传达,译者可以在译文中添加解释说明,但最好不要加脚注,因为脚注会影响译文的流畅进而打断读者思路。译者不能为了译文的优美和其所谓的文学性而在译文中添加一些原文中本来没有的隐含意义。
[Abstract]:Before the 1950 s and 1960 s, the controversy of translation theory focused on literal translation and free translation, then the controversy turned to translation equivalence. Many Chinese and foreign scholars and translation theorists have put forward their own views on translation equivalence, such as Nida's formal equivalence and dynamic equivalence, Newmark's semantic translation and communicative translation, Baker's pragmatic equivalence, Jin's translation equivalence and so on. Different genres and different language styles require different translation equivalence. The translation of character dialogue in the novel should aim at pragmatic equivalence. This paper focuses on the realization of pragmatic equivalence in the translation of fictional dialogues. Fiction is a literary genre. The role of character dialogue in the novel is extraordinary. It not only reflects the identity and character of the characters in the text, but also reflects the social background and local customs to a certain extent. In addition, it also plays a role in promoting the development of the plot and arousing the reader's interest. The character dialogue in the novel and the conversation in people's daily life have something in common in the aspect of meaning communication, that is, they can not be separated from the scene and the scene; There are some differences between the two, such as the characters in the novel sometimes use some special spelling to reflect the speaker's pronunciation unusual. This thesis uses Grice's cooperative principle and conversational implicature to analyze some of the characters' dialogues in Vanity Fair, and studies the realization of their pragmatic meanings in Yang Bi and Gao Yuqi's versions from the aspect of pragmatic equivalence. Through the analysis, the author finds that the translator should put the realization of pragmatic meaning first and ensure that the implied meaning in the original text can be kept in the implicit state and understood by the reader. Literature is literature because it leaves readers some room for imagination and aftertaste. In order to convey the implied meaning, the translator may add explanatory notes to the translation, but it is better not to add a footnote, which will affect the fluency of the translation and interrupt the reader's thinking. For the sake of the beauty and literariness of the target text, the translator cannot add some hidden meanings which are not originally found in the original text.
