[Abstract]:Xu Yuanchong is an outstanding representative of Chinese contemporary translators. He has translated a large number of Chinese classical poetry works and made great contributions to spreading Chinese culture and improving the status of Chinese literature in the world. What is more valuable is that Xu Yuanchong has not only devoted himself tirelessly to translation practice, but also inherited and developed Chinese traditional translation ideas on the basis of practice, and put forward the first set of relatively complete translation in the history of Chinese translation. Systematic translation theory-the art of beautification, creating a competition for excellence. Xu's theory breaks through the traditional Chinese translation thought based on "Xin" for a long time, but puts forward the artistic pursuit of "beauty" according to the characteristics of literary translation. Xu Yuanchong's theory of translation, especially the theory of competitive advantage, has caused a great uproar in the field of translation, and the voices of support and opposition do not give way to each other. Most critics evaluate Xu's theory from the perspective of whether the translation is faithful or not, but ignore the fact that there are great differences between Chinese and western cultures. This paper analyzes Xu Yuanchong's theory of advantage competition in theory and practice. From the theoretical point of view, Xu's theory includes ontology, methodology, teleology, epistemology, and expounds the idea of "advantage competition". Moreover, Xu's theory is not without a source of water. It has the same essence as the "functional equivalence" theory put forward by Nida, a Ph.D. in translation studies in the United States, and it is also a reference to Guo Moruo, Mao Dun and Fu Lei, the older translators of our country. The inheritance and Development of Qian Zhongshu's Translation Theory. From a practical point of view, there are differences between Chinese and Western cultural traditions, which are reflected in literary works, especially in poetry. The use of many words and figures of speech is unique to the national culture or loaded with profound cultural meanings. Blind and faithful translation can only lead to actual unfaithfulness, which can not perfectly convey the beautiful artistic conception of the original poem or destroy the unique beautiful form of the poem. Therefore, it is necessary to change the creation of the surface form of the original poem, and the idea of competition with the original text will also guide the translator to give full play to the advantages of the target language, and thus produce a translation that is both in line with the original poem's artistic conception and graceful in form. Through the analysis of Xu Yuanchong's translation theory and concrete translation examples, we can draw the following conclusion: the advantage competition theory put forward by Xu Yuanchong is reasonable in theory, feasible in practice and inevitable.
