[Abstract]:The study of iconicity originated from American semiotics Pierce. It is a challenge and supplement to Saussure's arbitrary theory of linguistic symbols and has become a research hotspot in cognitive linguistics in recent years. Iconicity means that the form of language corresponds to the structure of the world and the structure of human experience, which can enhance the artistic effect of the works. Iconicity is common in daily language and literary language. In various literary genres, the iconicity of poetry is especially prominent. In poetry, the poet tries to create a figure of speech by means of some form of language, and transforms it into artistic conception and scene, so as to enhance the naturalness and realism of language expression. At present, the research on iconicity is mainly focused on the lexical and syntactic level, and the textual level is not perfect. Poetry as a unique literary form, its linguistic iconicity exists not only in the lexical and syntactic level, but also in the hypersyntactic level, which is an important and effective rhetorical device. In recent years, scholars have made great progress in stylistic analysis and literary appreciation by combining iconicity with stylistic studies. This paper tries to find another way to apply the theory of text iconicity to the study of text translation in English and Chinese poetry, and holds that the translator should take iconicity as the starting point and attach importance to the formal beauty of the text in the process of poetry translation. This not only helps readers to better understand the formal meaning and implicit meaning of poetry, but also helps the translator to understand the text, choose the translation method and carry on the translation practice. It is of great significance to reproduce the communicative intention and rhetorical effect of the original poem as completely as possible. Starting from the basic contents of iconicity theory, this paper systematically combs its research history, relevant definitions and classifications, and tentatively defines and explains the concept of text iconicity. This paper also makes a brief review of the study of poetry and the standards of poetry translation. The main part of the thesis takes the type of text iconicity as the main line, takes English and Chinese poetry as the corpus, through a large number of examples analysis and the comparison of different translated versions, attempts to draw the following conclusions: firstly, the following conclusions are drawn: firstly, Text iconicity, which exists widely in English and Chinese poetry, plays an important role in enhancing the artistic charm of poetry and giving full play to the formal beauty of language creatively. Secondly, the iconicity of texts provides a new perspective for the study of poetry translation, pointing out a new direction and enlightening us to re-examine the debate on form and meaning in poetry translation. By analyzing the expressive forms of iconicity in poetry, this paper aims to emphasize the importance of formal reproduction in the process of poetry translation. Only in this way can the translation goal of "all forms and gods be similar" be realized.
