以《华夏集》英译为例看庞德对中国诗歌的误读与创新

艾兹拉·庞德是意象派诗歌的创始人之一。1925年,庞德出版了汉诗译作《华夏集》,把欧美现代诗歌接受中国古典诗歌的影响提到了历史的高度。在东西方文化的交流过程中,异文化之间的误读现象总是不可避免的存在着；然而庞德,一改当时盛行的维多利亚诗歌风格,用中国古典诗歌这一截然不同的文学形式与死板只重主观表达的维多利亚诗歌对抗,达到了创新美国诗歌的效果,让读者耳目一新。 本文旨在用《华夏集》来反映庞德的翻译思想及探究其思想渊源。《华夏集》拥有特殊的翻译媒介,翻译方法和深远的影响,很好的阐释了译者对原文的理解与阐释不是简单的复制原文意思,而是要有所创造。本文会以《华夏集》为例,从文体风格,语言及语法,和韵律等方面入手,来分析庞德的误读和创新。此外,文章还分析了文化误读出现的偶然性和必然性,即有意识误读和无意识误读,进一步加深对庞德翻译思想的了解。 在对中国古典诗歌的翻译中,庞德所运用的创意翻译法受到了国内外译评界褒贬不一的评论,但我们应该辩证对待。一方面庞德的《华夏集》推动了美国新诗运动的发展,极大的促进了西方世界对中国诗歌及中国文化的了解,另一方面误读和误译不利于跨文化的交流,甚至对源语国家的政治、经济、文化和意识形态造成不必要的混乱,中西翻译文化史都证明了这一点,这些对读者正确理解异质文化产生负面影响。总的来说,庞德对中国诗歌的翻译利弊皆有,但他的创意性要高于他的误读效应。
