【摘要】：20世纪80年代中期中国当代文学界掀起了一股“走向世界”的热潮，中国当代文学作品被大量地译介到国外。在这些作品被译介到国外的作家中，苏童是受到关注较多的其中一位。他的小说《我的帝王生涯》经由素有“中国当代文学首席翻译家”之称的翻译家葛浩文（Howard Goldblatt）翻译，于2005年在美国出版，推出后大受读者追捧，引起了《纽约客》等美国重要媒体的关注，并刊登了大篇幅的评论。 本文在揭露翻译规范与译者主体性对翻译的综合影响的基础上，详细分析《我的帝王生涯》的英译特点，探讨作者采用的翻译策略与翻译规范的关系，并结合小说的英译本在英语世界的接受和读者的评价，探索译者在翻译规范的影响下所采取的策略及其取得的效果。翻译作为跨文化的交际，是一种社会化的行为，因此受到许多社会文化因素的驱动与制约。作为翻译的驱动与制约因素，翻译规范的内容涵盖广泛，再加上其描述性的性质，是十分客观和全面的研究翻译的方法。除了翻译规范，译者的主体性也是一个不可忽视的内容。翻译的成品是译者在受到翻译规范制约下，主观能动地在不同策略之间做出选择的结果。将规范和译者主体性放入个案讨论，可以更好地理解复杂的翻译机制和过程。而结合译本的接受情况也能更加客观与实际地对评估其翻译的效果。通过读者对于小说的反馈，，既看到小说翻译的成功之处，同时也发现其翻译存在的一些问题。 从《我的帝王生涯》的文本选择至英译及最后的接受过程中，可以看到规范的影响无处不在，而译者能否把握好这些翻译规范采取相应的翻译策略是译本能否得到成功接受的关键。本文希望通过较为全面和客观地分析对《我的帝王生涯》英译本，对中国文学“走出去”所应采取的翻译策略提供一定启示。
