【摘要】：本文从《红楼梦》中文原著里选取了30个反映中国独特文化内涵的生态文化用词,并找到杨霍两个译本中对应的翻译表达,作为翻译对比研究的素材。文章以奈达的功能对等理论为指导,旨在通过分析与对比,帮助读者更好地欣赏《红楼梦》杨霍两个译本中对具有代表性的中国生态文化用词的翻译,评估两个译本分别达到的功能对等程度,并对双方译者在翻译这些生态文化用词过程中所采用的翻译策略与方法作比较,最后分析决定各自翻译策略的重要因素。 研究表明,杨译本中对这些具有代表性的生态文化用词的翻译多为形式对等翻译,而霍译本中对应的翻译多为功能对等翻译。通过统计翻译策略还发现,杨宪益及其夫人戴乃迭在翻译上述生态文化用词时主要采取了异化策略,霍克斯则多采用归化策略。笔者认为,翻译目的和主流翻译理论是决定双方译者翻译策略最重要的两个因素,这反过来又证明了奈达的功能对等理论对霍克斯翻译《红楼梦》中的生态文化用词确实产生了重要影响。
