葛浩文《玩的就是心跳》英译本中的文化过滤

  文化过滤在跨文化翻译中不可避免。源文本只有经过目的语文化的过滤才能进入目的语文学体系。安德烈·勒菲弗尔提出改写理论,认为翻译是对文化的改写,并归纳出制控翻译活动的三种因素,即意识形态、诗学和赞助人。本研究通过案例分析和中英翻译对比,分别从意识形态、诗学和赞助人角度探究《玩的就是心跳》英译本中,文化过滤产生的原因,表现和对译本的影响。本研究发现,意识形态影响下的文化过滤表现在译者对小说主题的过滤以及对文本中意识形态相关内容的改写。小说中的身份寻求、英雄主义和幽默的主题通过了目的语文化的过滤,而政治相关词汇则部分或完全被过滤。诗学影响下的文化过滤体现在目标文化的主流诗学对于小说叙述结构、句法、北京方言和文化负载词的过滤,其中译者调整了原文叙述视角,改写了中文句法,过滤了北京方言和文化负载词背后的文化意蕴。赞助人影响下的文化过滤表现在出版商,编辑和媒体出于经济和地位因素影响源文本的选择和翻译。其中出版社出于利益追求,编辑出于目标读者期待以及媒体通过书评和报告影响翻译活动。在《玩的就是心跳》的翻译过程中,在目的语文化意识形态,诗学和赞助人的影响下,译者对于小说主题和文化内容进行了过滤,使译本引...
