《榆树下的欲望》中的概念隐喻翻译研究

　　《榆树下的欲望》是美国著名剧作家尤金·奥尼尔的代表作之一,是美国文学中不可多得的经典戏剧,被誉为美国戏剧史上“第一部伟大的悲剧”。纵观国内外学者对该剧本的研究成果,从“悲剧根源”、“女性主义”、“人道主义”、“象征主义”、“神话原型”等文学视角进行解读的作品居多。本文另辟蹊径,从隐喻这一角度切入,以概念隐喻理论为支撑,将隐喻与翻译相结合,旨在探索戏剧中隐喻翻译的方法。概念隐喻理论认为,隐喻不仅是一种修辞手段,更是人们借助已知事物来认知未来事物的思维方式,其本质是人类对抽象范畴进行概念化的基本方式,是从一个认知域到另一个认知域的映射过程。国内外学者从不同角度对隐喻进行了研究,其中将隐喻与翻译相结合也成为了一种研究趋势。隐喻翻译活动是受隐喻所赖以发生的社会环境、文化背景、生活经验等多重因素的影响,是一种不同语言之间的思维转换活动。笔者通过对《榆树下的欲望》中的隐喻进行梳理,发现该剧本中的隐喻可以归为三类:意象隐喻、情感隐喻以及时空隐喻。笔者首先从这三方面探究尤金·奥尼尔使用隐喻背后的认知思维,并以汪义群,欧阳基和李品伟三位译者的《榆树下的欲望》中译本为例,通过对比分析三位译者对隐喻翻译的处...
