译者适应与选择:《生死疲劳》文化维度诠释

【摘要】：莫言是西方最受欢迎的当代中国小说家之一,其英译者葛浩文对莫言作品的翻译与传播功不可没。这篇论文从生态翻译学角度分析了葛浩文英译《生死疲劳》这一翻译活动中的适应与选择行为,解释了葛译成功的原因。清华大学学者胡庚申以达尔文生物进化论中的“自然选择”、“适者生存”等基本原理为基石,提出了“翻译即适应与选择”的生态翻译学理论。生态翻译学,是关于译者与翻译生态环境互动的整体性研究,着眼于翻译生态系统的整体性,从生态翻译学视角及其叙事方式,对翻译的本质,过程,标准,原则和方法以及翻译现象等作出新的描述和解释。本文以葛浩文译《生死疲劳》为研究对象,从生态翻译学视角分析何浩文对该翻译文本的选择与适应,并从三维转换中的文化维度来分析其对文化元素的翻译,发现葛译不仅是翻译生态环境选择与适应的过程,也是包括作者、译者、目标读者、委托者等在内的整个翻译生态环境动态平衡、和谐统一的过程。全文内容包括:绪论部分,介绍选题意义及论文整体布局;文献综述部分整理了生态翻译理论,主要是其前期研究——翻译适应选择论;译本介绍部分展示了葛译莫言的《生死疲劳》的背景,包括当前研究结果及其翻译生态环境介绍;第四部分直切主题,从译者的适应与选择、三维转换中的文化维度角度分析葛浩文的翻译行为,并从中发现译本助中古文化走出去的重要影响;最后一部分得出结论。该论文从这样一个译学研究新视角对莫言小说的英译进行分析探讨,不仅能探索、张扬其译者葛浩文的翻译思想和翻译成就,更有助于验证生态翻译学理论对翻译活动的指导性和适应性。
