孤独的精神守望者-《恐怖分子》的创伤叙事解读

【摘要】:约翰·厄普代克是被世人公认的当代多产作家。他的作品以细致描绘美国社会现实及生活图景见长。他的第二十二部小说《恐怖分子》,出版于2006年。小说一经出版,就受到评论界的广泛关注。这部作品从恐怖分子的视角出发,围绕着一名18岁本土少年艾哈迈德·马洛伊的故事展开,讲述他如何放弃大学生活,误入歧途成为爆破林肯隧道的恐怖分子。 国内外大部分评论家和学者曾从9·11主题,悬念结尾的写作技巧等等方面研究这部小说。近年来,国内外学术界开始强调创伤理论的研究,但很少有从创伤理论研究《恐怖分子》。本文试图以创伤理论为基础,细读这部小说,探讨创伤制造者的个人创伤,以及分析这一创伤事件给美国大众造成的集体创伤。本论文还将创伤理论与叙述技巧理论相结合,揭示文本如何通过叙述技巧表征人物创伤。 本文包括六个部分: 引言部分介绍约翰·厄普代克的生平,《恐怖分子》的故事内容以及研究现状,并阐释论文创作的原因、目的、意义以及方法。 第一章简述创伤理论的发展,包括前期和当代的基本概念,创伤理论与小说创作的和与叙事的结合。 第二章揭示造成人物创伤的原因,即民族杂合的社会,信仰危机,以及人性善恶的矛盾。 第三章探讨这部作为创伤小说的作品,分析在框架叙事内如何表征主人公的个人创伤,嵌入叙事内如何表征美国民众集体创伤。 第四章结合叙事策略,阐释全知叙述者和多重聚焦两种策略能够凸显9·11创伤主题。 最后总结全文,并呈现作品作为9·11后创伤叙事文本传达出对人类的忧思。
[Abstract]:John Updike is recognized as a prolific contemporary writer. His works depict American social reality and life picture in detail. His 22 novel, the terrorists, was published in 2006. As soon as the novel was published, it attracted wide attention from the critics. From a terrorist's point of view, the work revolves around the story of an 18-year-old native Ahmed Malloy who gave up his college life and went astray to become the terrorist who blew up the Lincoln Tunnel. Most critics and scholars at home and abroad have studied the novel in terms of 9 / 11 theme, writing skills at the end of suspense and so on. In recent years, scholars at home and abroad began to emphasize the study of trauma theory, but rarely from trauma theory research "terrorists". Based on the theory of trauma, this paper attempts to study the personal trauma of the trauma maker and analyze the collective trauma caused by this traumatic event to the American public. The thesis also combines the theory of trauma with the theory of narrative skills to reveal how the text represents character trauma through narrative techniques. This article consists of six parts: The introduction introduces the life of John Updike, the content of the story of "terrorists" and the present research situation, and explains the reason, purpose, significance and method of the thesis. The first chapter briefly describes the development of trauma theory, including the basic concepts of early and contemporary, the combination of trauma theory and novel creation and narrative. The second chapter reveals the causes of the trauma of the characters, that is, the mixed society, the crisis of faith, and the contradiction of good and evil of human nature. Chapter three discusses this novel as a trauma novel, and analyzes how to represent the personal trauma of the protagonist in the frame narrative and how to represent the collective trauma of the American people in the embedded narrative. Chapter four, combining narrative strategy, explains that omniscient narrator and multi-focus strategy can highlight 9 / 11 trauma theme. Finally, the author summarizes the whole text and presents his works as the narrative text of post-9 / 11 trauma to convey his concern for human beings.
