从新历史主义视角看《黑暗之心》

【摘要】：约瑟夫·康拉德经典之作《黑暗之心》曾被认为是英国文学史上第一部真正的现代小说,二十世纪最具影响力的中篇小说,不仅在文学上有重要作用,而且是一篇有重要历史意义的宣言。《黑暗之心》这部作品受到读者和评论家们的广泛关注。本文将用史蒂芬·格林布拉特提出的新历史主义理论,着重从流通和颠覆以及历史与文本的相互作用角度对这部作品进行解读。绪论简要介绍了康拉德及《黑暗之心》,以往国内外学者对这部经典之作的研究情况以及本文拟采用的新理论视角分析作品。第一章新历史主义理论简介,阐述了新历史主义的发展,基本理论观点,讨论了流通和颠覆的概念,为作品分析提供理论基础。第二章分析新历史主义中流通概念在《黑暗之心》中的体现。介绍作品所处时代的社会主流意识形态。分析了帝国主义思潮,社会达尔文进化论思想等在作品中的流通体现。康拉德通过马洛的叙述描述了当时帝国主义意识形态。马洛讲述的故事,实际上是帝国主义的统治,是欧洲人对非洲人及其文明对原始黑非大陆的统治。康拉德在作品中对原始非洲大陆及土著黑人的描写中指出了白人的种族优越感。第三章讨论颠覆在作品中的体现,这部小说对文学,非文学作品以及对所处时代的影响。颠覆是对社会主流思潮的反叛。康拉德在作品中揭露并批判了帝国主义和殖民主义的贪婪残酷行径。第四章讨论这部作品对当时社会和历史的作用。这部作品引发了殖民地人民对帝国主义殖民剥削的反抗。最后是结语,通过用新历史主义的概念对这部小说的分析,总结历史与文本的相互作用。
[Abstract]:Joseph Conrad's classic Heart of Darkness was considered the first true modern novel in the history of English literature, and the most influential novella of the twentieth century, which not only played an important role in literature. And it's a historic manifesto. Heart of Darkness has attracted wide attention from readers and critics. Based on the new historicism theory put forward by Stephen Greenblatt, this paper focuses on the interpretation of this work from the perspective of circulation and subversion and the interaction between history and text. The introduction gives a brief introduction to Conrad and Heart of Darkness, the previous studies of this classic by domestic and foreign scholars, and the new theoretical analysis of this work from the perspective of this paper. The first chapter briefly introduces the theory of New historicism, expounds the development of Neo-historicism and its basic theoretical viewpoints, discusses the concepts of circulation and subversion, and provides a theoretical basis for the analysis of works. Chapter two analyzes the embodiment of the concept of circulation in the Heart of Darkness in New historicism. Introduce the social mainstream ideology of the era in which the works are located. This paper analyzes the circulation of imperialist thought and social Darwinian theory of evolution. Conrad described the imperialist ideology through Marlowe's narrative. Marlowe's story, in fact, is imperialist rule, European domination of Africa and its civilization over the primitive Black African continent. Conrad points out the racial superiority of white people in his description of the African continent and the indigenous blacks. Chapter three discusses the influence of subversion on literature, non-literary works and times. Subversion is a rebellion against the mainstream trend of thought in society. Conrad exposes and criticizes the greedy and cruel acts of imperialism and colonialism in his works. The fourth chapter discusses the influence of this work on the society and history at that time. The work set off a revolt against imperialist colonial exploitation by the colonial people. The last part is the conclusion, which summarizes the interaction between history and text through the analysis of the novel with the concept of New historicism.
