从评价理论看《傲慢与偏见》的人际意义

【摘要】:评价理论是20世纪90年代崛起的一个新理论,它由马丁教授提出,是基于系统功能语言学人际意义的研究发展起来的。它关注对语篇的“赋值语义”的研究,将更多的词汇资源纳入到研究框架中来。本研究以评价理论为理论框架,通过对世界经典名著《傲慢与偏见》中对话的分析,研究对话中评价资源的分布特征,以及男女主人公如何利用语言来表达态度,实现人际意义,并分析评价资源如何揭示人物的性格特征。 简·奥斯汀的代表作《傲慢与偏见》是最广为流传和最受欢迎的一部作品,自其出版以来已从不同角度被大量的研究和讨论,但研究大多集中于女性主义、反讽以及婚姻观,,尽管也有对话语分析及其人际意义的研究,但研究大多局限于从情态和语气以及文体的角度探讨的,小说话语的独特性奠定了其人际意义的复杂性,从情态和语气的角度去研究是远远不够的,以往研究忽视了对话语的“赋值语义”的研究,评价理论正好补足了这一不足。 本文通过定量和定性的分析方法,结合评价理论三个子系统对所选语料的分析。通过分析发现:评价资源被小说作者广泛用于协商态度、促进人物交流以及刻画人物形象;评价理论是实现人际意义的有效工具;人物对话中评价资源分布的变化也揭示了人物思想以及关系的变化。本研究提供一个新视角帮助读者理解评价理论在解读文学作品中的重要意义,从而更深刻地分析人物的内心思想。总的来说,本文对评价理论的贡献在于将它应用于文学作品中,同时也帮助读者更深刻的解读文学作品。本文旨在探索评价资源是如何实现小说话语中的人际意义,以及作品中人物关系的进展是如何随着评价资源的变化而变化的。
[Abstract]:Evaluation theory is a new theory that rose in 1990s. It was put forward by Professor Martin and developed based on the interpersonal meaning of systemic functional linguistics. It pays close attention to the study of assignment semantics and brings more lexical resources into the research framework. Based on the theory of evaluation, this study analyzes the dialogs in the world classic Pride and Prejudice, studies the distribution of evaluation resources and how the protagonists use language to express their attitudes. Realize interpersonal meaning and analyze how the evaluation resources reveal the character characteristics of the characters. Jane Austen's masterpiece Pride and Prejudice is one of the most popular and popular works, which has been widely studied and discussed from different angles since its publication. Although there are also studies on discourse analysis and its interpersonal meaning, most of the studies are confined to the study of modality, mood and style. The uniqueness of the discourse of the novel lays down the complexity of its interpersonal meaning. It is far from enough to study from the perspective of modality and mood. Previous studies have neglected the study of "assignment semantics" of discourse, which is complemented by the theory of evaluation. In this paper, quantitative and qualitative analysis methods, combined with the evaluation theory of the three subsystems of the selected corpus analysis. Through the analysis, it is found that the evaluation resources are widely used by the writers to negotiate, promote the communication and portray the characters, and that the evaluation theory is an effective tool to realize the interpersonal meaning. The change of the distribution of evaluation resources in character dialogue also reveals the change of characters' thought and relationship. This study provides a new perspective to help readers understand the significance of evaluation theory in the interpretation of literary works, so as to analyze the inner thoughts of the characters more deeply. In general, the contribution of this paper to evaluation theory is to apply it to literary works and to help readers to interpret literary works more deeply. The purpose of this paper is to explore how the evaluation resources realize the interpersonal meaning in the novel discourse and how the development of the relationship between the characters in the works changes with the change of the evaluation resources.
