[Abstract]:Tess of the d'Urbervilles is the representative work of Thomas Hardy, the Victorian critical realism writer. The novel depicts the tragic fate of a kind and simple rural girl, who was forced by the economy to identify her family, be seduced, abandoned, and finally forced to kill, for which she was hanged. This paper attempts to analyze the causes and inevitability of the tragic fate of the novel and its heroine Tess from the perspective of feminism. The article is divided into six parts: the first chapter is an introduction, the second chapter reviews and summarizes the previous comments on Hardy and Tess of the d'Urbervilles; The third chapter introduces Hardy's life and the outline of Tess of the d'Urbervilles and the theme of the novel, the fourth chapter introduces feminism and its development. The fifth chapter uses the feminism related theory from the male superiority thought continuation, people's misunderstanding to the female in the aspect of the sexual demand-thinks that the female does not have or should not have the active sexual demand, The low economic status of women and the lack of education of women and other aspects of the Tess of the Deborgs are interpreted. In the part of the continuation of the idea of inferiority of men and women, this paper focuses on three aspects: the demands of society for women, the requirements of men for women, and the demands of women on themselves. The author points out that in the patriarchal society, men and women, young and old (including you and me) are accomplices who make women victims; Chapter six is the conclusion. This paper concludes that the tragedy of a woman like Tess is not accidental, or even inevitable. They were killed by the inferiority of men and women, the lack of economic and social experience, the lack of knowledge, and the injustice of the law. To some extent, the tragedy of women is closely related to the moral standards, economic conditions, educational system and legal factors of the society in which they live.
