解构视野下的《专使》

亨利·詹姆斯(Henry James, 1843-1916)是十九世纪末二十世纪初美国杰出的小说家及文艺评论家,同时也是评论界公认的由现实主义向现代主义过渡的代表作家。詹姆斯的小说主要关注国际题材,并使用中心意识、提线人等叙事策略。作者将从这两方面展示《专使》(1903)中詹姆斯是如何使用解构策略的。 本文共分五部分。第一章和第二章主旨及理论简介。第三章从欧美文化对立、融合方面讨论了詹姆斯如何在《专使》中运用解构策略,从而使对立统一体的弱势方变成强势方,彻底颠覆了《专使》开始的观点。第四章是对《专使》的叙事策略的分析。詹姆斯叙事的特点是作者退场和自我表述共存。通过分析,我们知道,最终二元对立中的自我表述颠覆了作者退场所产生的效果。詹姆斯故去后的半个世纪,文坛出现了解构主义。詹姆斯在有生之年并不知解构为何物,但其小说却处处体现了解构主义,并为解构作出了很好的注脚。
