威廉·福克纳是当今社会最为广泛研究的美国作家之一。在他的所有作品中,他的第九部小说——《押沙龙,押沙龙!》,是除《喧嚣与骚动》之外,为人们评论最多的一部作品。无数的评论文章及著作都在研究这一复杂难懂却又威力巨大的小说。这部小说讲述了昆丁·康普生在二十世纪初期尝试着去探知并理解生活在十九世纪的小说主人公托马斯·萨德本及其已毁灭家族的故事。 一方面,论文中作者将威廉·福克纳在《押沙龙,押沙龙!》中运用的多角度叙述法和立体主义、未来主义画家们在其作品中所运用之多角度手法相比较,提出了艺术具有其通性,并指出了在作品结构方面及美学效果方面,两者的相似之处。另一方面,通过分析《押沙龙,押沙龙!》中运用的多角度叙述法,作者阐述了威廉·福克纳的写作动机——通过让四个不同叙述者从四个不同的角度看待并讲述萨德本的故事,将故事更真实的一面展现给读者,给读者留下足够的空间,以形成自己的观点,更加客观地看待这一故事。
