从阐释人类学角度分析《聊斋》英译本中的“深度翻译”

【摘要】:20世纪后期,文化人类学的发展特别是其中阐释人类学等新学科的蓬勃兴起,给人文社会科学的发展带来了深远影响,也给了翻译研究以新的研究视角。阐释学认为翻译即阐释,基本说来译者所处的情形与正在做解释活动的人所处的情形相同。正是由于翻译所具有的理解阐释的特质与克利福德·吉尔兹(Clifford Geerzt,1926-2006)所提出的阐释人类学中关于“深度描写”的观点不谋而合。美国翻译家阿皮亚(Kwame AnthonyAppiah)将“深度描写”移植到翻译领域,提出“深度翻译”这一概念,并指出其对于补偿跨文化翻译过程中随之而来的文化缺省现象有着积极意义,在捍卫文化真实性、促进文化传播与交流方面有着不可替代的作用。 本文基于阿皮亚和赫曼斯(Theo Hermans)对于“深度翻译”的研究理论以及国内学者的研究,从阐释人类学角度对其寻根溯源,并质化其定义。本文以翟理斯《聊斋》英译本为研究对象,试图找出译本中体现的“深度翻译”现象并对其进行研究,分析其特征,并通过翟理斯译本与杨宪益译本的比较探求深度翻译的意义与不足。研究认为翟理斯英译的《聊斋》中“深度翻译”具有三种表现形式:序言,后记以及评论与注释。在译本中表现的特征表现为如下四个方面:深度翻译具有解释性;体现了译语与源语文化的差异;注重文化细节的表达并体现了译者的主体性。最后对比分析发现“深度翻译”的应用对于《聊斋》译本中文化缺省的补偿,,提高读者对译本中所出现的文化意象的可理解度都具有积极意义,并一定程度上促进了中国文学与文化的传播。虽然“深度翻译”虽然存在翻译详细度不好把握等局限性,但对于在传译文学著作尤其是古典文学中伴随的文化缺省现象以及中华文明的对外传播具有积极意义。因此在中国文学积极走向世界的今天,本文的研究不仅为翻译文化意象丰富的古代文学作品提供了新的可行性方案,更重要的是本研究较全面地完善了“深度翻译”的理论与应用,并使之更好地指导翻译实践。
[Abstract]:In the late 20th century, the development of cultural anthropology, especially the booming of new subjects, such as hermeneutic anthropology, brought profound influence to the development of humanities and social sciences. It also gives a new perspective to the study of translation. Hermeneutics holds that translation is interpretation. Basically, the translator is in the same situation as the person who is doing the interpretation. It is precisely because of the nature of understanding and interpretation in translation that it is in the anthropology of hermeneutics proposed by Clifford Gilds Geerztl 1926-2006. " Appiah Appiahh, an American translator, transplanted "in-depth description" into the field of translation. This paper puts forward the concept of "deep translation", and points out that it has a positive significance in compensating the cultural default in the process of cross-cultural translation, and plays an irreplaceable role in safeguarding cultural authenticity and promoting cultural communication and communication. Based on Appiah and Theo Hermans' theory of "depth translation" and the research of domestic scholars, this paper attempts to trace its origin from the perspective of hermeneutic anthropology. Taking the English translation of Zhai Liaozhai as the research object, this paper tries to find out the phenomenon of "deep translation" embodied in the translation, and analyze its characteristics. Through the comparison between Zhai's translation and Yang Xianyi's translation, the author explores the significance and deficiency of the in-depth translation. The study shows that there are three forms of "deep translation" in Zhai's English translation of Liaozhai: the preface. Postscript, comments and annotations. The features of the translation are as follows: deep translation is explanatory, which reflects the cultural differences between the target language and the source language; The comparative analysis shows that the application of "deep translation" compensates the cultural default in Liaozhai. It is of positive significance to improve the readers' understanding of the cultural images in the translation, and to some extent promote the spread of Chinese literature and culture, although "deep translation" has some limitations, such as the difficulty of grasping the detail of translation, and so on. However, it has positive significance for the cultural default phenomenon accompanying in the interpretation of literary works, especially classical literature, as well as the dissemination of Chinese civilization to the outside world. The present study not only provides a new feasible scheme for translating ancient literary works with rich cultural images, but also improves the theory and application of "deep translation" in a more comprehensive way, and makes it better guide translation practice.
