【摘要】：二十世纪五十年代,第一本英译张爱玲小说问世却未能如愿出版。1971年,被誉为张爱玲“终身成就”的《金锁记》英译本被收录进《二十世纪中国小说选》,在美国出版,却未能获得英语国家读者的关注。由此二十世纪张爱玲小说的英译宣告终结。本世纪初,张爱玲经典小说《倾城之恋》、《色戒》等先后被英译出版,并被以入选标准极为严格著称的企鹅经典文库收录。张爱玲小说在二十一世纪前的西方世界没有受到预期的关注,不被西方读者接受,张爱玲本人也因此在西方文坛默默无名。相隔几十年,跨越了世纪之交,在二十一世纪初她的小说却吸引了英语国家人士的眼球,并从一个相当的高度认可她的文学成就。本文从接受美学视角切入,从出版状况、译者、译本选择、媒体及学者关注度等五个方面比较分析了二十世纪和本世纪初的张爱玲小说英译状况和接受度,并尝试从政治环境变迁、文学文化背景差异、经济市场氛围等方面分析由此而造成的读者期待视野、审美经验和接受愿望的变化。作为能同时运用中英文两种语言写作的作家,张爱玲的英文小说创作也经历了一个翻译成中文的过程。中译本的张爱玲英文小说在国内的境遇远不如其中文小说在二十世纪四十年代上海所受到的追捧。本文从接受美学视角切入,对张爱玲英文小说中译本问世时期的接受情况进行了比较,着重分析了读者群体的变化,指出读者群体变化是造成中译本张爱玲英文小说未能延续其中文小说所获荣耀的最主要原因。本文同时指出在一国作家作品借助翻译打入他国市场的过程中,科学的读者接受预期分析是至关重要的。在中国现当代文学英译轰轰烈烈展开的今天,我们应该借此东风,鼓励更多的优秀作品通过翻译为更多的西方读者所了解,进而在世界文学之林中获得正确的定位。
