基于语料库的中英学生书面语中态度立场表达的对比研究

【摘要】:近几年来,立场表达法已经成为功能语言学的研究热点之一。根据Biber和Finegan (1999,974)的研究,立场传达了说话者或作者个人的感情、态度、愿望或者价值评判等。立场的表达可以通过多种语法手段来实现。Biber和Finegan把立场划分为认识立场、态度立场、方式立场三个子类。大量的研究结果表明,学习者,特别是把英语作为外语的学习者,在态度立场的使用上存在着多用、少用或用法不够灵活的现象。 本文结合定量分析和定性分析的研究方法,主要试图回答以下几个问题。第一,中英学生书面语中态度立场表达的实现形式是什么?第二,中英学生书面语中态度立场表达的相同点和不同点有哪些?第三,中英学生书面语中态度立场表达的不同点的可能原因是什么? 本文基于中国学习者语料库(CLEC)和英语学生书面语语料库(BAWE)对常用的态度立场副词、态度立场动词和态度立场形容词进行了全面的对比分析,旨在找出中英学生书面语中态度立场表达的异同以及不同点的可能原因。本研究采用Wordsmith5.0对Biber和Finegan(1989)调查的常用的52个态度立场副词、40个态度立场动词和67个态度立场形容词在两库中的实现形式分别进行调查。此外,SPSS17.0和Microsoft Excel被用来检验态度立场在两库中的出现频率上是否存在显著性差异。 研究结果显示,中英学生书面语中态度立场表达的使用上的确存在着显著性的差异。第一,中英学生书面语中态度立场的表达主要通过态度立场副词、态度立场动词的第一种实现形式和态度立场形容词的两种实现形式来实现。第二,,从总体上来说,中国学习者过多地使用态度立场的表达;中英学生书面语中态度立场副词、态度立场动词和态度立场形容词的出现频率上均存在着显著性差异;中国学习者更倾向于使用显性手段来表达他们的态度情感,然而,英语本族语者更倾向于使用隐性手段。第三,中英学生书面语中态度立场表达的不同点的可能原因可以从以下四个方面进行分析:输入不足,第一语言迁移,不同的语言学习环境和文化差异。 通过对比分析中英学生书面语中态度立场表达的相同点和不同点,本文为态度立场以后的研究提供有用的建议。同时能为教师和学生们正确、有效地学习态度立场的表达提供有益的启示,从而提高他们的语言表达能力。
[Abstract]:In recent years, position expression has become one of the hotspots in functional linguistics. According to Biber and Finegan / 1999974, the position conveys the individual feelings, attitudes, wishes, or value judgments of the speaker or author. The expression of position can be realized by a variety of grammatical means. Biber and Finegan divide the position into three subcategories: cognitive position, attitude position and mode position. A large number of studies have shown that learners, especially those who use English as a foreign language, use their attitudes and positions more frequently, use less or use less flexibly. This paper mainly tries to answer the following questions by combining quantitative analysis and qualitative analysis. First, what is the realization form of attitude and position expression in written language of Chinese and English students? Second, what are the similarities and differences of attitudes and positions expressed in the written language of Chinese and English students? Third, what are the possible reasons for the differences in attitudes and positions expressed in the written language of Chinese and English students? Based on the Chinese Learners' Corpus (CLEC) and the English students' written language Corpus, this paper makes a comprehensive comparative analysis of the commonly used attitude position adverbs, attitude position verbs and attitude position adjectives. The purpose of this paper is to find out the similarities and differences between Chinese and English students' attitudes and positions in written language and the possible reasons for their differences. In this study, Wordsmith5.0 was used to investigate 52 commonly used attitude position adverbs, 40 attitude position verbs and 67 attitude position adjectives in the two libraries. In addition, SPSS 17.0 and Microsoft Excel were used to test whether there were significant differences in the frequency of attitude positions in the two libraries. The results show that there is a significant difference in the use of attitude and position in written language between Chinese and English students. Firstly, the expression of attitude position in written language of Chinese and English students is mainly realized by attitude position adverb, the first realization form of attitude position verb and the two realization forms of attitude position adjective. Secondly, generally speaking, Chinese learners use attitude position too much, and there are significant differences in the frequency of attitude position adverbs, attitude position verbs and attitude position adjectives in written language of Chinese and English students. Chinese learners tend to use explicit means to express their attitudes and feelings, however, native English speakers tend to use implicit means. Thirdly, the possible reasons for the differences in attitudes and positions expressed in written language can be analyzed from the following four aspects: insufficient input, first language transfer, different language learning environments and cultural differences. By comparing and analyzing the similarities and differences of attitudes and positions expressed in written English and Chinese, this paper provides useful suggestions for future research on attitude positions. At the same time, it can provide useful inspiration for teachers and students to express their attitudes and positions correctly and effectively, so as to improve their language expression ability.
