英语全球化背景下语言意识形态的研究

【摘要】:通常情况下,语言被人们看作是交流的工具。但是,近年来随着语言学和其他学科的跨学科交流,人们认识到语言在传播文化和思想方面的作用越来越突出。由于语言学研究与人类学研究的学科交流,越来越多的关注开始投向语言的社会功能以及在全球化背景之下语言与政治、经济乃至整个社会的关系。在全球化的大流中,知识、资源和人才等在全世界范围流动,然而更重要的是意识形态和价值观念的传播,这种看不见的传播媒介就是语言。毫无疑问,语言总是影响着人们如何定义这个世界。意识形态为解释各种复杂的语言和社会现象构架起了桥梁。意识形态几乎对语言使用的每一个方面都产生着影响,它把语言符号作为传达个人意愿、志趣、需要和请求的媒介,被编码的语言会直接造成或影响语言使用者的潜意识,进而成为人们常识的一部分,自然地干预人们在社会上的思想或行为。 本文以语言意识形态为研究课题,旨在从意识形态为出发点分析语言使用和语言学习,并且反映社会语言学的研究现状。本文共提出并探究了三个话题:英语成为世界语言的原因,语言运用和身份构建的关系,以及外语政策对教学的意义。作者均从这些现象背后的意识因素来解释说明了上述话题。首先,英语全球化的历史告诉人们英语的霸权地位是由国家运用其权利所给予的,并且逐渐成为人们常识的一部分。语言、权力和意识形态之间存在着复杂关系;其次,对于个人地位的有意识地选择反映了社会环境与身份的互相作用以及其对语言使用的影响。语言不仅仅只是交流的途径,它已经成为每个人身上的标签;最后,语言教育在当今全球化的过程中起着举足轻重的作用,而同时,语言政策与语言教育密不可分。在全球化的今天,社会政治因素已经影响了国家对于英语的主观意愿但现实情况中不同的语言意识时刻影响着语言的实际规划。 鉴于本课题与社会生活紧密联系,本论文在理论与案例研究相结合的框架下,作者从微观和宏观两方面说明了语言和意识形态之间的复杂关系。
[Abstract]:Usually, language is seen as a tool for communication. However, in recent years, with the interdisciplinary communication between linguistics and other disciplines, people realize that language plays a more and more important role in spreading culture and thought. Due to the communication between linguistics and anthropology, more and more attention has been paid to the social function of language and the relationship between language and politics, economy and the whole society under the background of globalization. In the great tide of globalization, knowledge, resources and talents flow all over the world, but more importantly, the spread of ideology and values, which is the invisible medium of communication, is language. There is no doubt that language always influences how people define the world. Ideology serves as a bridge to explain complex linguistic and social phenomena. Ideology has an impact on almost every aspect of language use. It uses language symbols as a medium for communicating personal wishes, interests, needs, and requests, and the encoded language directly causes or affects the subconscious mind of the language user. Then become a part of common sense and naturally interfere with people's thoughts or actions in society. The purpose of this paper is to analyze language use and language learning from the perspective of ideology and to reflect the current research situation of sociolinguistics. This paper puts forward and explores three topics: the reasons why English becomes a world language, the relationship between language use and identity construction, and the significance of foreign language policy to teaching. The author explains the above topic from the conscious factors behind these phenomena. Firstly, the history of English globalization tells us that the hegemonic position of English is given by the state using its rights and has gradually become a part of common sense. There is a complex relationship between language, power and ideology. Secondly, the conscious choice of personal status reflects the interaction between social environment and identity and its influence on language use. Language is not only a means of communication, it has become a label for everyone. Finally, language education plays an important role in the process of globalization. At the same time, language policy is closely related to language education. In today's globalization, social and political factors have affected the subjective will of the state for English, but in reality different linguistic consciousness has always influenced the actual planning of language. In view of the close relationship between this subject and social life, the author illustrates the complex relationship between language and ideology from the micro and macro aspects under the framework of the combination of theory and case study.
