严复学术化翻译研究

本文依据目的论,综合运用理论阐述和翻译描述等研究方法,分析和探讨严复的学术化翻译,旨在阐明中国传统学术对严复翻译行为、文本选择以及翻译方法的影响。本文从中国传统学术来考查译者翻译活动,对探讨翻译与传统学术的相互影响具有一定借鉴作用和新的启示。 传统学术思想与方法贯穿严复八大译著,本文对其进行系统梳理,主要从以下三个方面论述,即严复学术化翻译行为、学术性文本选择、学术化翻译方法。首先,严复翻译行为的学术化。传统士大夫的学术方式之一是阐释经典,严复借助翻译西方学术著作阐释中国传统儒家思想、老子思想和庄子思想,托“译”言志。其次,严复对学术性文本的选择。严复译作涉及西方学术诸多领域,一方面宣传进化论的维新求变思想和西方逻辑学,旨在引进新思想,新方法；另一方面深刻反思中国传统法制思想和经济思想,主要指出传统中国律法中刑法民法不分以及传统士大夫以言利为讳,从而导致人民没有真正自由,经济思想未予重视。严复翻译学术性文本目的明确,引进与反思在译本中交相辉映。最后,严复翻译方法学术化。严译的读者大多为传统士大夫,严复在翻译中广泛应用考证、案语、正名等传统学术方法,旨在使他的“学术”行为得到认可,同时体...
