中国EFL学习者汉英话语理解中物用性提取效率差异对比研究

【摘要】:经典认知理论认为,语言理解的本质是对于“先在意义”的加工。而涉身认知理论认为,语言理解是以人的身体经验为基础的。本研究以新近提出的语言理解涉身认知理论模型“索引假设”为理论框架,利用E-prime、ERPs(Event-related Potentials)技术,以英、汉两类语篇作为实验材料,探究下问题:中国高级EFL学习者在汉英话语理解中,是否存在物用性提取效率差异?本研究采用被试内2(话语类型:物用性可提取话语与物用性不可提取话语)×2(语境类型:英文语境与汉语语境)实验设计,被试为16名四川外国语大学英语专业研究生,其中男生2名,女生14名。本研究共分为两个实验中,首先要求被试认真阅读并理解一个由段落和关键句构成的话语,接着判断探测词的真假,最后需要判断随后呈现的陈述句是否与前面的话语内容相符合。实验使用E-prime2.0软件编程,Neuroscan4.5和Synaps 2采集并分析脑电数据,最后用SPSS16.0进行统计分析。研究发现:(1)行为数据统计结果显示,在“物用性”可提取条件下,中国高级EFL学习者对汉语语境下的目标词的反应时(M汉/可提取=929.7ms)短于英语语境下英语目标词的反应时(M英/可提取=1087.6ms),并且存在显著差异(t可提取/汉英=1.63,p=0.041);而在“物用性”不可提取条件下,中国EFL学习者对汉语语境下的目标词的反应时(M汉/不可提取=1005.5ms)也短于英语语境下目标词的反应时(M英/不可提取=1184.3ms),但差异不显著(t不可提取/汉英=1.88,p=0.22)。这表明,中国高级EFL学习者在英汉话语理解中存在物用性提取效率差异,母语效率更高。(2)脑电数据统计结果显示,在“物用性”可提取条件下,探测词在280 550 ms时间窗内英语语境(MA汉语=-0.551)所诱发的负波要大于汉语语境(MA英语=0.346),且差异显著(t可提取/汉英=2.31,p=0.041)。而在“物用性”不可提取条件下,探测词在280-550ms时间窗内汉语语境(MA汉语=-0.741)下所诱发的负波要大于英语语境(MA英语=0.467),并且差异显著(t可提取/汉英=5.103,p=0.007)。这表明,中国高级EFL学习者在英汉话语理解中存在物用性提取效率差异,与行为数据的结果一致。综上所述,中国高级EFL学习者在英汉话语理解中存在物用性提取效率差异,这一结果可能是由于语言模式转换所引起的。
[Abstract]:According to classical cognitive theory, the essence of language understanding is the processing of "meaning first". Language understanding is based on human body experience. The present study is based on the newly proposed theoretical model of linguistic understanding, "index hypothesis", using the technique of E-prime-ERPsrelated potential, and using English and Chinese texts as experimental materials. The following question: do Chinese advanced EFL learners differ in the efficiency of materiality extraction in their Chinese-English discourse understanding? In this study, 16 English majors from Sichuan Foreign Studies University were enrolled in the present study. The subjects were designed by using "Nei-2" (discourse type: ostensible extractable utterances and ostensible non-extractable utterances) 脳 2 (contextual types: English context and Chinese context). The subjects were 16 graduate students majoring in English at Sichuan Foreign Studies University. Among them, 2 boys and 14 girls. In two experiments, the subjects were asked to read and understand a discourse composed of paragraphs and key sentences, and then to judge the truth and falsity of the words. In the end, we need to determine whether the subsequent statements match the previous words. The experiment used E-prime2.0 software to program Neuroscan4.5 and Synaps 2 to collect and analyze EEG data. Finally, SPSS16.0 was used to carry out the statistical analysis. The study found that the behavior statistics showed that under the condition that "material use" could be extracted, The response time of Chinese advanced EFL learners to target words in Chinese context is shorter than that of target words in English context. Under the condition that "material use" can not be extracted, The response time of Chinese EFL learners to target words in Chinese context is also shorter than that of target words in English context, but the difference is not significant. Chinese advanced EFL learners differ in the extraction efficiency of existential use in English and Chinese discourse comprehension, and their mother tongue is more efficient. 2) the results of EEG statistics show that under the condition that "materiality" can be extracted, The negative waves induced by the detectable words in the English language context / MA / Chinese language context in the 280 / 550 Ms time window are larger than those in the Chinese context / English / Chinese / English / Chinese / English / Chinese / English / English / English / English / English / Chinese / English / English / English / Chinese / English / English / English / Chinese / English / English / Chinese / English / English / Chinese / English / English / English / Chinese / English / English / English / English / English / English / English / Chinese / English / Chinese / English / English. The negative waves induced by the detectable words in the Chinese context (280-550 Ms) are greater than those in the English context (0.467), and the difference is significant (P < 0.05). Chinese advanced EFL learners have different extraction efficiency of existential use in English and Chinese discourse comprehension, which is consistent with the result of behavioral data. In summary, Chinese advanced EFL learners have different extraction efficiency in English and Chinese discourse comprehension. This result may be due to the transformation of language patterns.
