中国外交部和美国国务院官网主页的多模态话语分析
[Abstract]:In the information age, the proportion of multimodal discourse in people's daily reading is increasing. How to interpret the relationship between multiple modes and how to improve the ability of multimodal discourse interpretation has become a practical topic in urgent need of study. As the main platform of communication, website has undoubtedly become a more economical medium for dissemination and access to information. In recent years, the research on multimodal discourse analysis of web pages has attracted much attention in the academic field at home and abroad. In China, multimodal discourse analysis of web pages is a new field of academic research. At present, the multimodal study of web pages involves personal pages, foreign propaganda pages, Weibo, shopping websites, bank websites, museum websites, news websites, and enterprise websites. Most of them will evaluate the theory of evaluation, visual grammar, and the theory of graphic-text relations. Genre theory is the theoretical basis, but there is no multimodal discourse analysis using GeM model. Therefore, this study attempts to further expand the scope of multimodal discourse analysis. As two important countries in the world today, China and the United States are typical representatives of developing and developed countries respectively. As one of the windows of national propaganda, the official website of Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the official website of the United States Department of State assume the function of publicizing national foreign policy and foreign activities. As a kind of multimodal network discourse, its main page has an incalculable influence on propagating the concept of national diplomacy and shaping the image of the country. Bateman has created the GeM model of genre and multimodal (Genre and Multimodality Model), for short. It is about the analytical framework of multimodal discourse. Using GeM model as the theoretical framework, the research on official website can extend the scope of multi-modal discourse empirical research. Based on genre and multimodal model (GeM model), this study will analyze the multimodal discourse of the official website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the people's Republic of China and the State Department of the United States of America. Using the method of quantitative analysis and qualitative analysis, this paper analyzes the basic layer, layout layer, rhetoric layer and browsing layer of the two official web pages in turn, and finds out the typical differences of each layer and makes an explanation. In the course of this analysis, this study explores how the modes of home page construct meaning and the influence on the establishment of national image in the process of meaning construction. In addition, as a supplement to the analysis based on the GeM theory model, this study explores the reasons for the differences between the two websites from the perspective of social culture. The author hopes that this study can provide a theoretical basis for the national official website designers from the perspective of linguistics, thus promoting the optimization of the website design of the national official agencies and establishing a better national image.
