【摘要】：自二十世纪至今,华裔美国文学经历了三个阶段：初始阶段,转折阶段和繁荣阶段。当前,处于文化全球化的进程下,华裔美国文学已经越来越广泛的被大众接受并且呈现出前所未有的繁荣景象。本文试图从一个宏观的角度将华裔美国文学视为一个整体对其进行分析,而不是将精力集中在单个文本的分析上。文章选取了华裔美国文学三个主要发展阶段中代表作家的代表作品：黄玉雪的《华女阿五》,汤婷婷的《女勇士》及谭恩美的《喜福会》进行分析。在此宏观角度下,本文试图揭示华裔作家群体在构建被异化的华人形象当中所呈现出的一种集体趋势。本文试图探索西方读者脑海中被异化的刻板华人形象究竟是什么样的。华裔作家在构建西方读者脑海中的华人形象上起到了至关重要的作用。华裔作家为了迎合西方读者的好奇心,从以下四个方面建构了东方主义：华人的外表和行为方式,华人的思维模式,华人的家庭观念以及华人在社会中所处的失语状态。另外,本文同样关注于分析华裔作家为何故意刻画出怪异的华人形象。首先,华裔作家多年生活在美国并且深受美国文化的影响,他们已经意识到了美国文化中的种种优点,所以他们更倾向于将自己视为美国人。因此,他们刻意地在自己和他们的父母和祖先之间划清界限。其次,他们关于中国和中国形象的写作素材都来源于父母讲给他们的中国故事。为了完成他们的作品,他们加入了自己的大量想象。这些作家缺乏对于中国传统和中国文化的系统性了解。因此,他们作品中的华人形象并不是完全真实的。这些形象不是被扭曲了就是被夸张了。本文是对东方主义理论的一次应用,将文化和政治因素融入了对文学作品的分析。由于中国经济政治地位在世界上的提升,让读者意识到被异化的华人形象具有片面性十分必要。本文为越来越多的读者重新思考华人形象提供了一个机会。
