The Sacrificed Mars: An Interpretation of Shakespeare’s Roma

《考利欧雷纳斯》是莎士比亚的最后一部罗马悲剧。该剧常常被解读成一部政治剧,主人公被看作是反民主的反派英雄,从而导致莎翁的英雄观和价值判断受到猛烈批评。本研究则试图以人物为中心、以原型批评的视角细读文本,揭示隐藏在主题伪装下的神话原型,为研究者与读者提供一个新颖、合理的解读视角。实际上,该悲剧反映了这样一个事实:成长中的古罗马需要英雄的牺牲,而考利欧雷纳斯的母亲服龙尼亚遵从族群的号召,把她战神一般的儿子作为人牲献祭给罗马的诸神。因而,英雄献祭与大无畏的弑婴构成了该剧的主题,显示出高度震撼的悲剧性。
