[Abstract]:Scientists at the University of Sydney have developed a 3 D printing process for bone implants. This success could revolutionize head trauma surgery and is now in clinical trial. The new 3D printing application is reported to make skull repair easier and cheaper than ever before. The cranial implants currently used to treat head deformities and severe skull damage are mainly made of titanium and often take weeks to make at a cost of thousands of dollars.
