[Abstract]:As early as the 1950s, the role of the intestine in systemic sepsis was proposed [1]. Since 1980s, the role of gastrointestinal tract in systemic inflammation and multiple organ dysfunction (multiple organ dysfunction syndrome,MODS) has attracted more and more attention, and it is considered as the "center of stress response" and "engine of MODS". Studies have shown that about 62% of ICU patients have at least one gastrointestinal dysfunction symptom, and there is growing evidence that gastrointestinal dysfunction is associated with preconditioning.
