全国专业技术人员职称英语等级考试的效度研究

【摘要】: 自1978年以来,随着国际合作与交流的日益频繁,中国政府对英语的教与学给予越来越多的关注。全国专业技术人员职称英语等级考试(以下简称职称英语考试)是由国家人事部于1999年开始组织实施的一项国家级英语考试,专业技术人员必须通过该考试才能获得其专业技术职务的晋升。对这样一项与职称挂钩的全国范围内的英语考试进行质量调查和分析,不仅对专业技术人员个人及单位具有重要意义,对社会也将产生广泛的影响。 现有的职称英语考试共分三个专业类别:综合类、理工类和卫生类,每个专业类别的考试各分A、B、C三个等级。该考试重点考查应试者的阅读理解能力。本文首先详细论述了专门用途英语测试、阅读测试以及效度、信度等测试质量标准的有关文献资料,在此理论基础上对职称英语考试进行了效度研究。 本文作者选择了理工类和卫生类的B级考试作为研究对象,特别关注的是影响阅读测试的诸多因素中的文章类型、长度、体裁和主题,阅读任务的类型和答题方式,以及所测的阅读技能等因素。为了了解应试者的目的语真实使用情况,尤其是他们的阅读需求,本文作者在镇江范围内进行了一次问卷调查,调查对象为参加2006年职称英语理工类和卫生类B级考试的专业技术人员。同时,2003、2004和2005年的相应的试卷被仔细地分析,目的是为了具体了解尚未公布的2006年的考试内容和任务。基于问卷调查结果和试卷分析结果,本文作者主要从信度和效度这两方面分析评估了测试质量,得出的结论是职称英语考试的效度比较低,因此该测试手段质量不高、意义不大。该考试的设计者有必要采取一些有利措施提高测试的效度,但不可忽视信度,要开发真实考试模式,真正测到想要测的能力,能从考试结果中了解和预测应试者在真实情境中的语言能力。 本文仅对职称英语考试进行了初步的研究,希望引起对该考试的更多关注和更为深入的讨论。
[Abstract]:Since 1978, with the increasing international cooperation and communication, the Chinese government has paid more and more attention to the teaching and learning of English. The National English Grade Test for Professional and Technical personnel (hereinafter referred to as the English Test for Professional titles) is a national English examination organized and implemented by the Ministry of personnel since 1999. A professional technician must pass the examination in order to be promoted to his professional technical position. The investigation and analysis of the quality of such a national English examination, which is linked to the professional title, is of great significance not only to the professional and technical personnel, but also to the society. The existing English Test for Professional titles is divided into three major categories: comprehensive, Science and Technology and Health. The test focuses on the examinees' reading comprehension. This paper first discusses in detail the relevant literature about ESP test, reading test, validity, reliability and so on. Based on this theory, the validity of English Test for Professional title is studied. The author chooses the B level examination of science and technology and health as the research object, and pays special attention to the type, length, genre and subject of the article, the type of reading task and the way of answering the question, among the many factors that affect the reading test. And measured reading skills and other factors. In order to understand the actual use of the target language, especially their reading needs, the author conducted a questionnaire survey in Zhenjiang. The subjects were the professional technicians who took part in the 2006 English Science and Technology and Health Grade B examinations. At the same time, the corresponding papers for 2004 and 2005 were carefully analyzed in order to understand the contents and tasks of the 2006 exam that had not yet been published. Based on the results of questionnaire survey and test paper analysis, the author analyzes and evaluates the test quality from two aspects: reliability and validity. The conclusion is that the validity of title English test is relatively low, so the quality of the test method is not high. It doesn't make much sense. It is necessary for the designers of the test to take some favorable measures to improve the validity of the test, but the reliability should not be ignored. To understand and predict the language ability of the examinees in real situations from the test results. This paper only makes a preliminary study on the title English examination, hoping to arouse more attention and further discussion.
