帕尔默文化语言学视角下《诗经》隐喻的英译研究

【摘要】：翻译不但是一种语言转化活动,还牵涉到两种语言所蕴涵的文化信息的交流。因此,翻译中的文化因素越来越受到重视。由于受文化因素的影响,隐喻的翻译就成为翻译中较为复杂的问题。传统语言学和翻译研究视隐喻为文学作品中的修辞手段,而认知语言学认为,隐喻,不仅是语言修辞的手段,更是人们认知的重要工具。在认知语言学的基础上发展起来的帕尔默文化语言学,将文化的因素归入研究范围,建立其独特的意象图式理论,从文化与认知模式关系的角度深入研究人类语言中的许多问题,尤其是语言中的隐喻现象,为隐喻研究提供了一个新的视角。 《诗经》作为中华民族文化的精髓,除了具有弘奥的文学价值,更具有极高的文化历史价值,其隐喻的大量使用,使得《诗经》的翻译一直倍受中西方学者的青睐。中国学者夏传才(1985)并不十分认同西方学者的译本,西方学者毕竟是异族人的身份,他们或者缺乏对中国文化的亲身体验,或者不能全身心融入中国文化,因此不能够真正了解中国文化的历史渊源和精神实质。他认为,中国经典最好还是由贯通中西文化的中国学者来翻译,中国老一辈翻译家比如许渊冲和汪榕培,他们古今兼治,中西贯通,既有较为深厚的国学功底,对西方文化也有专攻。20世纪90年代,随着改革开放的不断深入和中西文化交流的日益深化,中国学者深感包括《诗经》等中国文学经典在内的中国传统文化对外传播的历史责任的重大。 本课题试图从帕尔默文化语言学视角,以《诗经》中丰富的隐喻为语料,对比分析中国译者的两种《诗经》英译本,分别是许渊冲和汪榕培的译本,探讨《诗经》隐喻英译的文化语言学理据和翻译途径。
