文章摘要：本文旨在提出一个全新的外语课堂教学模式。与传统的PPP模式相比，它不是一套可供操作的程序，而是一系列有关外语课堂教学基本功能的新主张。这些基本功能包括：（1）激发和保持学生的学习兴趣；（2）提供充分的外语学习资源和机会；（3）培训外语学习策略；（4）帮助解决外语学习中的困难。作者分别从现代学校教育的理念、外语学习的根本特点、外语教师在外语教学过程中的重新定位、外语教学重视学习过程和个体差异的新趋势以及外语教学中新的评估方式等角度充分论证了新模式的理论依据，为当前的外语教学改革方向的讨论提供了新的思考维度。

Abstr：This paper proposes a new model for classroom instruction in FLT. Compared with the traditional PPP model, the proposed new model is not a set of procedures to be strictly followed in the FL classroom, rather, it consists of a number of suggestions for a reconeeptualization of the basic functions of classroom instruction in FLT, which, the author argues, should include the following： （ 1 ） stimulating and maintaining students＇ strong interest in learning; （2） providing suflleient resources and opportunities for learning; （3） training students＇ learning strategies in foreign language learning; and （4） helping the students overcome difficulties in learning the foreign language. The author then tries to provide a rationale for the proposed new model from the perspective of the new goals of modem education, the nature of language learning, the changing roles of FL teachers and some new trends in FLT evaluation.
